Personally, I'm against these type services. If I'm selling names, I wan't real buyers to be able to contact me even if I don't want the spam. I also believe I lost some names due to a privacy protection glitch not allowing renewal notices to come to me.
I suggest using an email address not used for anything else. Filter the incoming mail through a strong spam filter, making sure to white list or prefilter email from the registrar into a "good" mail folder. If you want real privacy, as in not wanting people to know your name, then holding the names in a trust, corporation, or LLC will give you personal privacy.
In the US? You can get a small PO Box for cheap at your local Post Office. Couple that with a cheap or free voicemail account (www.k7.net) and a dedicated email address and you've got perfectly legitimate, yet private, WHOIS details.
