Hi, sorry if this has been asked somewhere else.Im trying to close on one of my first domain sales. The end-user replied backed and asked how the pricing works for domains, my reply is below tell me what you think(keep in mind the end user is in the real estate niche)
Hi ------,

Thanks for your interest. It is still available and priced at $1795.

The price of the domain is based on the search volume for the keyword "-----" (which is searched around 2000 unique times per month). The high cost to advertise for the keyword "--" on Google($1.64 per click). We also take into consideration that ---- is registered in ever other domain extension possible(.com,net,org,us).

All of these factors indicate a very strong, and competitive online market for the keyword "----", which makes a domain such as ----- a very valuable asset to have.

Thanks,
----

Assuming that this potential buyer contacted you regarding a domain you have for sale, I would almost say that you have provided more than enough info.

If you have a listed price and the potential buyer has made you a lower offer then asked how you justify your pricing, your reply is just fine, but if the potential buyer's first approach is asking you how pricing works, its just like any other purchase - supply and demand. You apparently have a domain name that they would like to purchase, they can either pay your asking price, counter offer or say thanks but no thanks.

It all depends on your position with the domain and how bad you want to sell it now and if they are really in a position to buy it now. You will find a bunch of "tire kickers" and scam artists alike so be careful in your dealings....

Good Luck

Your response sounds reasonable though domain pricing is very subjective. There are end users who think paying more than $50 for a domain name is outrageous while we all see $XXXX sales on DNJ which really aren't that special. Somebody was willing to pay that price for that particular domain. However, even though a domain registrant can demand any price they want, a potential buyer can always look elsewhere and the more the seller asks for, the easier the decision to continue shopping becomes. Be realistic with asking prices, close the sale and move on to the next opportunity.

That is a fairly typical newbie domainer sales letter. If the guy is looking to spend $300, that sales text does very little to increase his willingness to spend more.

Don't even mention the AdWords tool data unless it is really strong, and none of this is.
