A quick SEO question related to "domain pointers"

Within my hosting I am able to create "domain pointers" for my sites.
I can create them
a) as alias
b) as non alias

My questions are:
1) How do "domain pointers" perform in SEO ?
2) Wich domain pointer is better for SEO (with or without alias) ?

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I would go for without alias and just redirect the domain name to the existing site.

Thanks.

They really don't relate to SEO, IMO.

Ok, your choices are to have someone that goes to domaina.com be redirected to domain.com, but it will look like it's domaina.com. Or when they are redirected they then see they are on domain.com.

A domain that redirects to a second domain where you see that you are on the second domain does nothing for the second domain. There is no SEO advantage. There MAY be some advantage if people try the first domain and then visit the second domain because the second domain gets more visitors, which is good.

In the case where there is an "alias", the visitor to domaina.com might think that what they see is on domaina.com when in fact it's really on domain.com. You might think that this would be good for SEO because your site content appears to be on two different sites, but the fact that they are exact duplicates means that you will get no real advantage since it is easy to tell they are duplicates (not to mention on the same IP address...).

I hope this helps...
