The business of advertising on parked domains is facing a shakeout that could dampen speculation in the domain name market. The domain advertising business, which is based on pay-per-click advertising from Google and Yahoo, has seen explosive growth this year. This week one of the industry's largest players, DomainSponsor, announced that it was shifting its payment model to combine pay-per-click and pay-per-sale ads.

Well, for pure speculators or those holding huge number of domains for PPC revenue it will be a sort of dotcom disaster. It will force many of us to think of developing domains into sites. But not many of us are ready to spend money for development, hosting, promo, etc. It is not easy money.

Well it could go either way right now. Lets hope it falls in favor of the domain holders.

IF you have quality names nothing to worry about for example if you own loans .com you will make good money from that name on a ppc basis, if you own l-o-a-n-s.com or reallyeasyloans.com you will not. They know the traffic if any is probably bogus or not quality at best, so they will pay you .02. Not all PPC companies will follow domain sponsors lead, ds gets complaint every day about typos, so do all the other ppc companies, that is what may dry up. Typos that may be TM infringement. Cheating will always exist mp matter PPC PPM PPS PPA. PPC companies have to realize they need traffic, DOMAIN parkers are in the advertising business, if they have to be in the sales business they will build their own sites and not share with the middleman.

Because riddle me this DOMAIN SPONSOR, why does anyone need you? build a site with Affiliates, and adsense or YAHOO and maybe sell some banner ads even, no need to share with PPC company. So they will screw themselves if they go purely PPA. PPC is about Direct navigation people typing in they do not want to pay you PPC wise on any other basis many who will complain about this have names in their sig line that no way does anyone type that name in they probably get clicks from people clicking their sig line atthe end of the day PPC companies never wanted to pay you for that anyway.
Domainers will stop regging stupid names become more selective because you cannot develop 500 names. But you will make more on your top names. IMO

Relying completely on PPC is a risky proposition in the long run IMO. It's always good to develop at least a few domains into affiliate sites.....
