Domain name ssl certificate question

Hello to everyone,

I have been visiting this site for a while now and finally decided to join and truly love all the great information. I am a lover of brandable domains and love seeing everyones new acquisitions here. I have a fairly complicated question and wanted to see if I can get some help. I had a difficult time naming the title to this thread so maybe someone out there has a better title so I can get more info.

I am in the process of selling a domain name and have already had the contract signed but the due date for payment is Sept. 1, because the soon to be new owners will have the funds at that time because they opted to take an extension I put in the contract. I had been asked to redirect the name to their servers which I had no problem with but now they are ready to launch the website and need a SSL certificate for the domain. I am under the impression that you must provide lots of detailed information about the business etc......but its not my business but is still my domain. So I am little cornered and not understanding if this is good or bad for me to do.

Is this a major issue to deal with or fairly simple. I am just wondering if I am looking to deeply into this thinking I am going to get screwed or something.

The actual SSL cert isn't expensive, however you'll need to implement it on the hosting server for the domain name. So it's best that they take care of the SSL and implement the cert (on Windows it goes in IIS). Also, when it's time for the certificate to renew Verisign will come to you for renewal as you were the one that originally purchased it. I would tell them you'll gladly redirect the traffic to their server until they take possession of the name (if you're comfortable with that), but that it's best that they secure the URL for the above stated reasons.

As an aside, I always use RapidSSL when I need a quick cert. They are very efficient.
