trying to decide this.. any input? I am talking about sale lander only setting.. no parking etc.

DNS lander page:
pros:
- people with more experience selling domains are contacting the clients

cons
- no customization for lander
- no ability to show other names for sale with a link
- commission
- no 100% control over pricings or what prices get pursued or turned down etc
- no way to not ask for phone (I find email is enough to get first contact and phone# is just an unnecessary step to be turnoff in the end in some cases even deal breaker)

from where I'm sitting.. I see only one potential benefit for using dns.. ie: people with more experience thna me doing the negotiating.. but is this enough to go with their lander instead of your own? comments?

tnx!

My advice to you is to inquire about a domain name at DNS. Pretend that you are an interested party in some random domain name. Let them put you through the process and see if they are better at selling domains than you are. If you are better than them, by all means put up your own "buy now" pages. If they are better salesmen than you, then pay the commission IMO

neat suggestion. thanks.

this is why I said that to me it all boils down to: is their sales pitch better than mine.. cause all else about using broker versus doing it yourself with your own lander page, is just a disadvantage and cons start to end.

Exactly, if their sales pitch is nothing special or close to what you can do, then you have more chances of closing a sale yourself because you can flex and extra 10-20% depending on what DNS commission is.

it's not about sales pitches, it's only about the domain and price.
because when you contact me, i don't have to "sell you", on the name

when/if you send an inquiry to me thru dns, there is a minimum offer amount which you must equal or exceed, before i'll consider negotiating

if your inquiry gets thru without such an offer, then i'll ask you to make an offer

if you don't make an offer, i'll discontinue negotiations

it's about the same setting on sedo and would be same scenario if you sent an email or called on the phone.

the disadvantage if any, is when you're not monetizing the domain while waiting for inquiries.

but creating your own landing page or portfolio site, can produce leads as well and i'd monetize those with adsense.

imo....

Hello Biggie,

Is it safe to add adsene on landing pages?

I use my own. Rolling it out as a service in January. ;)

Thanks, Do you add adsense to your pages?

No. Parking is made for certain types of domains and landing pages for others.

I also created my own using weebly not wordpress to do it faster and simple, but am wondering should i add ads to the page (domain for sale) or its against Adsense guidelines? Feel free to have a look at it and tell me what you think. hurghadaresort . com

There was a service few years back "Adsense for Domains"... But that service was discontinued as Adsense now allows parking companies to do this job...

Like everything with marketing/sales you have to test to determine the best ROI. Something else that hasn't been mentioned is the trust in brand authority that you get with DNS. An end user may be more comfortable dealing with them, particularly if they are new to purchasing a domain.

If they're new to purchasing they don't know who DNS is. They aren't omnipresent.

adsense denies sites with no real contents like landers

goood points thanks.

but like someone said, how many potential buyers or lander viewers actually know who DNS is.

Nope, but people do Google sites they're considering using, a quick Google of DNS says a lot about them.

I don't like DNS. And stopped inquiring about a domain if it is on DNS...
The ones with them that I showed interest in always turned out overpriced even for an end user by multiples.
And when I wrote back that thank you, it is overpriced, the guy took a mentoring tone advising me to start with a lesser tld extension and come back when it is successful and I have enough money for the one I asked price for.

Mature response.

I can only speak for myself, but I've enjoyed a 30% increase in the rate of inquiries since moving to DNS. OP test your own landing page versus theirs and go with what works best.
