It depends on your goals for the site. If the site is just a hobby with no profit motive, acquiring a quality domain might be less important. The development pros can often take a so-so domain and still get traffic to a site via backlinks, advertising and hundreds of pages of content. But I doubt many individuals looking for pet info would type in that phrase into a web browser. I also believe you could find better choices in the aftermarket (SEDO/Afternic/Namepros domains wanted section)for branding purposes and which might even have type-in traffic. Often by going with an alternative extension domain and using Google Adwords' keyword tool you can find phrases which are searched for and yet the domain in .net or another extension is available. The search engines do give preference to an exact match domain though it is still only one factor in search engine positioning. Best of luck.
