Domain Name Registration Unsuccessful?

Yesterday I regged a domain at godaddy and today I get this message.

Domain Name Registration Unsuccessful

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt this time but still smells a little like BS. The whois info was updated yesterday.

Since I do a lot of registrations, it has happened to me several times. I register the name, pay and a couple of minutes later receive the "Unsuccessful Registration" message.

There was a case in which, after a few hours, I successfully registered the name with the same registrar using a different account.

Some of these issues happen because he registrar, GoDaddy, for example gives you false positives and their system goes ahead and attempts the registration and you are charged, but the domain has not dropped yet.

Of course, when this has happened, I receive a refund for he unsuccessful registration...

Happens to me all the time with 101 domain and enom...

Many reasons for that to happen, the registrar has more details on their side about why it failed to register. Though most of the times you should see that almost immediately after you try to register.

In any ways, it seems to happen now and again with GD, you can try and reach their Support to check for details (TRY being the key word here :D )

I had the same issues, turned out, the .com. .net, etc registrars, were doing some sort of updates yesterday which caused glitches. After the updates were done, the domains registered just fine. Check with the Reg co that you were using, and verify that you were not charged until AFTER the updates were done, and the domain Reg went thru. I used Namecheap, and when I registered the domain, I got a similar error message as you did, but my card got charged. Within an hour, I saw they had refunded me and told me to re-register and I had no problems
