Hello all,

I think that many of you here are tired of selling domain names for a buck or two for profit.
The domain business today is not the same domain business like several years ago - where you can sell the name for 5 or six figures. Why?

According to my research, there are hundred of thousands of domain dealers out there who own an average of several hundred names (many of us from NP do to). These dealers accumulate million of names (both good and bad names) BUT THE MAJORITY OF THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MARKET THE NAMES.

In the NamPros for sales section, you're technically selling to other resellers for a small profit. Sometimes you're even take a loss if the name is about to expire.

I think the domain market is not as bad as many may think if you can find the market/buyers.

I'm thinking creating a site called "Domain Name Broker Association" (Let me know if you can think of a better name).

What we'll do with the site strictly membership (where you have to pay a nominal fee,i.e. $10 a year to prove that you're serious.
- Members will exchange current inventory by entering them into one large database with the prices that they wish to sell.
- There will be a couple of full time marketing members who their job will be contact end-user to solicit the sale based on the name.
- A certain percentage will be retained for the administration of the association.

So what I'm trying to do is gather as many names as we can so we have a large inventory and then we'll market them diectly to the end users.

I have successfully did this. I bought names from NP here for a couple of bucks, define and contact the potential buyers and close the sale for a couple of hundred dollar (I believe Wanda did it too).

Let me know your thought! Feel free to pm or send me an email.

I was kind of thinking of something that looked a little more like a bronze, gold, or silver metalic look that would not color clash with variuos website color schemes.

Maybe something similar to one of these Image I found in google images:

Agree with Mark on all points. I like the first image he suggested.

Hi John,
I don't know what would be other members' response to this suggestion but since I feel that if not decided in the very first place, it may become a serious problem in future.
What I want to suggest is as follows:
1. That immediately, certain basic 'CRITERIA' for membership should be laid down.
2. Until and unless such criteria are met, 'Registration' to DNBA should not be treated as 'Membership'. Instead, all signatories should be treated as 'Users';
3. For membership following should be defined:
a) Minimum age;
b) Minimum number of 'Domain Names' to be registered before applying for membership;
c) All membership applicants should launch their own independent website before applying for membership;
d) Applicant should declare that they've never been declared as 'cyber squatter' as per any decision of any superior court or the ICANN;
e) No names of celebrities or infringing known businesses, Registered Trademarks or Servicemarks should be considered;
f) No names (other than TLDs recognized by ICANN) should be considered;

So far this is all.... shall add more in future. But in fact I just wanted to throw the idea for general discussion. Otherwise I think that if no criteria is set for membership, there would be 'Members' holding 5 or 10 domains and thus number of members may go to hundreds of thousands and in such situation, I don't think that DNBA would be able to create any 'Credibility' before the concerned quarters.

Regards.

It looks like we have a good start but no one is interested in contributing to this project.

I still believe that we need need this type of organization and will continue to work on DNBA.org

If there is no interest in contributing, I will make it a private organization and will accept two partners.

PM or send me an email if you're interested.

Thanks,

John
