Hello,

Let's assume that I bought a domain name that has a global monthly searches of 550K and a local exact searches of 300K ? How is that going to benefit the value of domain ? if I develop it into a website am I going to get a share of visitors from searches ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ansari,

This very much depends on what you are searching, I am fairly unsure about this myself but I will share with you my theory on this

Example.
If you search for 'I want a' and there is 1million global searches
but there is also the same amount of exact searches for
I want a job
I want a life
I want a website

your domain name is not going to be 'exact' but you will get a share of the searches and it definitely depends on the competition of the words used. If it is a high competition keyword, with exact words you can definitely squeeze up in there, but expect to do a lot of quality back linking.

If you buy smellysocks.com, which has 100,000 global searches, with little or no variations, you'll be dominating this keyword a lot more with a lot less work getting a bigger share of the actual 100,00 searches.

As I said, this is just theory for me as I haven't put anything into practice just yet, I am still toying around with domains and websites as I prefer to learn from experience & the experienced.

If anyone wants to touch up my comment with a little fact I'd love some feedback!

Thomas

Domain name may give you a plus but doesn't guarantee good rankings, everything will depends on your whole optimization process. Just make sure your site will be built to gain much authority and reputation..
