:hi:

This isn't a bad thing.

There have been a ton of domain giveaways lately between the Contests forum and Free Resources forum. I'm curious to see what other NP members think about the possibility of a forum for domain giveaways, so go ahead and give your opinions! :tu:

Thanks,
Steve

It could be good.

I agree, there does seem to be a few giveaways at present, but i don't think enough for a separate forum.

Just my thoughts. :tu:

I would thinks this would be a great idea. I often give a free domain and hold it in the free resource area. I think a seperate area would be great for this.

I think it's better were it is because not everyone goes to free resources all the time so they have to check it every once in a while. If they know it's coming then the same people will always get it.

It should be that they are moved out of the contests forum and into free resources, where they usually are. I agree foka's contest was massively popular, and maybe a subforum of free resources could be useful? Even just as a test run to try the idea.

This has my vote.

I like how it is currently. Let's try not to over-complicate things ;)

Ok, thanks for the input so far.

The thing is, with free resources, maybe it's just me but I don't see domain giveaways fitting in with what's in the rest of that forum. A lot of the content in there is for free forum skins or free, unique services.

Agree, when I think free resources, I think of Dave's Free Magazine links, or free template downloads, not another member giving away free domains. I think a separate forum would be nice.

I think a sub forum would be good for this. I do like the idea very much!

Agreed...A subforum was exactly what I was thinking - perhaps of the Free Resources forum?

Yes, that's what I had in mind. The only minor issue with that is the forums in that category are not really domain-related for the most part. What about in the marketplace forums?

(1337th post. :hehe:)

Free domains aren't really a resource and they don't fit into the marketplace.. How about renaming it from "Free Resources" to "Free Stuff". ;)

It is a great idea. But I think if we start this kind of thing it will soon become a beggar's paradise.

And it might effect the ongoing threads in the other sections also, due to their posts in middle of someone's sales thread or wanted threads.

It is not that we cannot handle this situation. We can handle it. But it will just create some more mess for the staff.

Just an opinion.

Otherwise the idea is a good one to categorize the threads.

Ya.. it will be easy for us to check out the giveaways offers. In many forums it seems they have this forum available. So, i agree to have a Domain Giveaway forum. Which will be useful and needed too.

I've always disliked having the free domain offers in the Free Resources forum because they get claimed fast and just end up leaving another thread to clutter things up (and it's not really a "resource", like already mentioned). They're almost better suited the Contests forum.

Perhaps its time we did something like this. I wouldn't mind sharing names that I have no more use for, or those I intend to drop. The downside if the new board is successful is that we might find ourselves with a lot of new users only seeking free domains.

Can it be done that only users who have their question and answers things completed can access that section. The one which shows in the posts in the appraisals section.

Or Maybe users with some years here on namepros can only access that section.

This will only allow limited persons to access that section and the persons who have contributed over the years can take advantage of it.

Thanks.

One more thing. This might also give proper reason for newbie's to make quality posts on the forums itself.

Right. I agree with your points.

On another forum I was a member of, you had to be a member for six months to even know the giveaway forum existed. I don't think a minimum post count to view the forum would help things, as it would obviously encourage spam for users to gain access to the forum. Perhaps all members who are eligible to earn NP$ for posting?

Yes I agree that if it is put in a new are of its own. That there should be rules for it. Such as questions or qoutes done for the free domain. I find quite often that many are to quick to go there for the notion they know someone will drop a free domain in the free resources area so enough.
