Domain for shameless self-promotional website

I am building a website about myself (I know, I sound like an ego) to group my articles, writings and other stuff that I wrote for various other websites. The site will also contain my CV and such.

Now I was wondering what domain suits best to get the site look somewhat professional. I was thinking of my first name + another word added to it (I already have gerritonline.com but it is stuck with a different host than the one I will be using now, and I am not sure if the same name with .ws or so would be any good?)

Either I must register my first name with another word added to it and use a common extention, or either register just my first name with a less usual extention. Which is more professional and which would attract most people to visit my website?

PS the domain is for my website, NOT for selling. I am not really interested in what domain would have most value, I am only interested what domain would suit my website best and attract most viewers.

Most people use their full name .com, if you can't get it as one word use a hyphen or include your middle name, if you can't get .com, then .net & .org also carry plenty of weight.

could also use aboutgerrit. com or knowgerrit. com .... although i also went the full name route.... denverpassow.com since sadly denveronline and most other snazzy spinoffs just arent an option for my name..... :hehe:

How about using your first name middle initial and last name?

I thought of that before but am afraid my last name is too tough to remember for non-Dutch-speakers. If only I had an easy name like Smith or something similar :hehe: Or would the "weird" sounding name still be a better option that my first name + a different word?

I also considered my nickname in real life + .com by the way, but I am afraid that would not be a good idea as people who don't know me would not see the link between me and the domainname.

The .TV extension offers some opportunities, perhaps. Make a streaming video intro and the extension not only makes some sense, but you have a better chance of getting your full name.

If you have the bucks, I own domains like MarketingBusiness.tv, marketingbook.tv, etc., but there are probably different combinations still available for you there.

I think name and surname are the best option...
