It really depends on how ed fits the name. The better it fits and the more useful it is, the more it will be worth.

Past tense definitely holds less value than present tense, not only because of length, but just because of how it sounds. In the end, like most things, it matters how the name used.

For example:

searched.com
search.com

The first one would be good for a keywords site.
The second one would be a good search engine name.

Which of these types of sites have the biggest user base? Search engines.
