Hi there. I own a domain which currently earns around 90 USD per month simply by beeing parked (pay per click on ads). All the traffic is pure TypeIn and is constantly growing! What´d you guys think how much it could sell it for? Is there a golden rule for defining a value for domains like this (e.g. like a two years income)?

Thanks for your advice.
Greg

~$1000 because its a parked site and you didn't say the name.

It depends. What kind of domain is it? Typo? TM name? Keyword?

You should post the actual domain. No harm in doing that :)

*HARHAR* That´s what it makes in 11 months without spending a second developing it...

I actually just wanted to know if there is a (rough) rule to fix a price for this sort of domains. There are NO trademark issues, its a typo of a very good keyword.

So, there´s no 'golden rule' to roughly determine the value of such a domain?

I'd always thought it was anywhere between 12 - 24 x the avg monthly income, plus another 50 - 100% if developed.

I think that the value of a traffic domain depends a lot of the reliability of the traffic and future traffic and evidence of the traffic. Unique type-in traffic is the best.

On one extreem, the unreliable traffic often will get a multiple of less than 12 and on the other extreem, the extremely reliable traffic can often fetch a multiple of around 80. A large percentage will fit somewhere in between and closer to 12 than 80.

He means the name of the domain.

Anyway since it earns $90/month i would say the value is $1000-$1100, considering the monthly revenue only.

It's difficult to tell you an exact opinion without knowing the domain name. I wouldn't pay 12 or 24x for every domain. It depends on the niche, and in your case, being a typo, I would pay less if I couldn't market and develop it.

If it's a cool typo, it may be worth more.

Hi vurg.

Thanks, and YES it IS purely type-in traffic which has been constantly growing for nearly four years by now (since i own this domain). Back then I had around 15.000 uniques/month. Right now it´s getting around 25.000 without any promotion at all...

$1,400

I was thinking around $1400 but doesn't $90 seem quite low for 25,000 quality visitors? Nothing like good ol type in traffic.

Hi DnPresident.
Well, as I said: I never even tried to force my income on this domain. Call me stupid. Any advice to make more money from those 25.000 uniques would be kindly appreciated! No jokin - I wont sell the domain anyway...

Thanks in advance.

uniques

In my opinion that kind of traffic alone is probably worth $15,000 assuming I'm correct that you should be earning around $70.00 per day at just under 1000 natural type ins per day. The $1400 is based on your income.

Is $3.6 CPM a bad result for a parked domain? I don't have much experience in parking premium domains with large numbers of type-ins, so I'd be interested to know what could be considered a good return.

Surely this will be a very, very valuable domain IF it is suitable for a business looking for clients specific to the keywords that make up the domain name.

Say this was paintballshop.com and got 25,000 type-ins a month. It would definitely be worth $xxx, xxx. Getting nearly 300,000 potential clients per year just by owning the right domain :)

On the other hand if this is a movie or some other domain with transient popularity, it would be worth much less.

Good luck with it,
Josh
