With multiple bids up to $77 or so and 15 min. left it just disappears.

The original owner came out of hiding and paid the redemption fee and they took it down?

seen this happen with LGBTE.com pissed me off. as I did not bid on it. actually there was no bid. Then the one and only bid won it and it was gone.

but yours had multiple bids? yea that has to be that the owner paid thru the nose to get it back right down the wire. that sucks! sorry bro! move along!

Better than buying it and then getting it taken from you during the waiting period.

some sellers are using that to either test the waters or promote the name. Its risky and can get expensive.

Or lets say there is a good domain name that is bid up to $300-$1000 or so , you could contact the previous owner and offer them $200 to pay the redemption fee of $80 or whatever and give it to you. lol

They might change their mind and want the domain then tho.

I've thought about this many many times. never tested it. maybe I should.

although. lately. in my outbounds for my domain auctions. I've specifically stated that my domain auction was for an "EXPIRING DOMAIN". saves $80 from using the technique you've mentioned.

lol technically speaking it's not lying as with humans as soon as they are born are all fitted with "toe tags" aka we all have Expiration Dates.

So even if I just registered a domain yesterday I can say it's an "Expiring Domain".

sure it's going to "expire" in about 364 days but it is technically "expiring"

using the word "Expiring" in my update for my domain auction boosted the views from 146 to 671 views the next day!

True Story.

yes, most of the time if you can contact the previous owner - it just tips them off (if they didn't know it was expiring) or if they did know and you contact them they will just wait to see what the auction goes up to, re-reg it and go back to you to try to sell it for that amount.
