Domain Blogs?

Hello guys, I am thinking of creating a domain blog to entertain fellow domainers and to spread the word to others about domaining. It will be strictly domain-related content. I was wondering, if I make it via Wordpress, would it be worth it? Or are domainers not typically interested in domain blogs? I know I'm still new to domaining, but I want to share my experiences and have fun doing it. A little cash incentive from ad-sense to pay off college debts wouldn't hurt either. But it's not the main reason I'm making it.

What do you guys think about domain blogs? Please share your thoughts and opinions. :lala:

Go for it, share you experiences. I don't think you will get a lot of domainers that have been around a while that interested, but there are always new people everyday. As long as you are having fun doing it, why not?

Thanks Traveler! I have a quick question: Is it legal or illegal for me to discuss recent and past domains that were sold on a blog? Please let me know, thanks again.

I'm not a lawyer but there a number of sites that publish the recent domain name sales. As far as I know, it is public info.

check out namebio.com for an example.

Again, I'm not a lawyer but I am pretty sure you would be fine to discuss recent and past domain name sales.

Creating blog with a domain is always recommended. It is quite easy to create a blog through WordPress content management system. As you are looking for to get revenues from Adsense, the blogs are the best choice. And it will help you to get name and fame together.

i got a couple suggestions fo you if i may:

1. use responsive theme so people can comfortably read your blog on mobile devices. keep it simple and light - no stupid sliders/big images/quirky js transition effects/slow loading fb-twitter buttons/google fonts/add-this plugins with 100000 social bookmarks no one ever using - that all sucks and is unprofessional

2. do not use adsense - i doubt you are going to have any noticeable profit from it while no ads wp site is much cleaner and visually appealing from a design point of view. good looking layout is much better than $1 in monthly adsense revs. dont be cheap :)
if you absolutely need to put ads on you site stick with affiliate links/banners. remember that for blogs dynamic animated banners suck big time as well as animated content as a whole

3. use solid domaining related name or good short meaningless brandable - there's nothing uglier in domain blogging when a domainer puts his blog on a pigeon shit domain. apparently because all good names are for sale :)

4. get a good logo. or no logo at all - strong short name in giant letters is still better than poorly designed homemade over-compressed jpeg.

best of luck

Domain blogs are extremely popular and I believe most domainers prefer to use Wordpress (I know I do), lol. I would say to go for it! The nice thing about domain blogs is that they're easy to create content for. Just post about your personal experiences, sales you've made or friends have made, new domains you're chasing or good domains you see that are expiring. Next thing you know you'll have tons of great content :)

I've just started a little domain blog myself, nothing serious just casual. I list available brandable domain names that i find and anything else of use when it comes to finding brandable domains. Only started a couple of days ago. Check it out if you like Excitemental.com
