I have a need for a service in which I can trade domains while no money ever exchanges during the transaction/barter.

So, the idea is someone like Sedo would verify ownership by having the domain owners change the DNS entries so that the domains are parked on their Sedo servers. So, if there was a 1 for 1 trade, each person's domain would be verified. Maybe the domain contact information would even be changed to Sedo Management. Once they received both domains, they could release it to the new owners.

Soes something like this exist? I have a need to make a 3 for 3 domain trade with no money involved. I would be willing to pay someone like Sedo a fee to manage the barter/trade.

Why not just place an ad here? It's really no different than a regular ad and you can trust others in accordance to their trader rating.

The other party is not a member of this community. He is an end user.

The other reason is that these domains are not considered high price domains to members of this community, but are considered high price domains from his and my perspectives. So, he and I would not be comfortable using this platform to trade names.

You are asking for a service that has quite a bit of value to you, yet you don't want to pay anything for this service. That is the problem I see with what you are asking.

I have sold domains here many times and mentioned that I would consider trades and I think only once did anyone take my offer. But why would anyone want to help you manage your cashless trasaction for free??? :)

The best thing I can suggest is to draw up a legal agreement that describes the transaction and that can become legally binding. Then if one of you is a jerk the other can take you to court.

The idea situation would be for both parties to have enough reason to trust each other and just swap the domains. If that is not possible, them use Escrow.com for both transactions. Agree on a price for each domain that is the same. That way if one of you backs out, the other will have the money if not the domain. If you conclude the transaction, the only cost is the two escrow fees. :)

In my original post, I mentioned: "I would be willing to pay someone like Sedo a fee to manage the barter/trade."

So, someone could create a business in which people domain swap/trade without paying a fee to each other, but would pay the service provider a few dollars for managing the transaction, e.g. $2.50 per managed trade.

it's hard to sell names, but trading from a list of names between domainers is like baseball card trading - win/win

I like that analogy: baseball card trading! Right on!

Sorry, I missed the part about your willingness to pay for the service, I apologize!

No problem! :) I like your idea of escrow and agreeing on the same price on both ends. I will use that as a backup plan. In the meantime, can someone create a Domain Exchange business and charge $2 per trade? 1000 trades per month equals $48000 year which is a nice added income for a business person!

Has anyone heard of this idea being developed? Is there a secure domain trading platform out there where domain owners can securely trade domain names for a small fee? It's kind of like trading baseball cards...

When I have put domains up for sale here in the past I have offered to take trades and no one ever offered or seemed interested.

If you want this service, I would be willing to provide it for $1 from each person. The way it would work is simple: both parties push the domain(s) to my account. When I have both of them, I would push them to the new owners.

We can setup such a service, but I wonder if people are interested in transferring domains to a third party...

I have thought about this idea for sometime now.

If NP would do it I think it would work.

I'm game for $1 per trade per trader.

Example:Say trader A and B agree to a 3 for 6 trade. Each push domains to NP and once each trader pays $1 then NP pushes said domains.

I think most of us domainers have access names we're sitting on that we'd like to move somehow
if not sell prior to the domain exp.

GREAT IDEA and I'd have done this a year ago but I could not serve as an escrow service but NP certainly could.

I'd even consider a Very high ranking NPer to make the transaction if there were agreements in place.

Please do this as I'm sure it would catch on.

Thanx,

Perhaps the NP store should be expanded with some more services ;)

Doesn't ecop.com do this? Haven't heard much about it though, except for the fact that it's owned by Domaining.com owner Francois.

Anyone ever trade domains for other services? Not just domain for domain, would this idea work for that?
