Domain Auction Frauds

Hello,
I recently ran an auction and successfull bidder backed out from payment at last moment.

I was thinking if it would be possible for Namepros to have something on following lines.

NP has auction fund where every person can have funds added via paypal or whatever. Now suppose, they want to bid, the auction forum automatically deducts the amount they bid and keeps it locked. If they are successfull bidder, same fund is transferred to seller. If not, they are returned the funds once auction is over or higher bid is placed.

This will bring in serious bidders only and do away with those who back track at last moment and also assure seller.

Please see if such is possible and also may be extend same to other sales forums if needed.

Sorry to hear about this. But, you have to look on the brightside of things. The final bid was only $12. It still sucks though. What you can do is re-list the auction or sell to the previous bidder. Im sure NP staff will take some action if he doesnt pay up. You can always leave a negative trader rating. By the way, I always look for DNOA members. I know they are paypal verified and honest people for my auctions.

Thanks dear for the advise and yes, I will adhere to it. I somehow formed a conclusion that honest people surf ehre and I still enjoy same feeling, just need to be little watchful I guess.
May be a lesson to learn.

On brighter side, yes, bid was low but then I took it as sincere auction and whatever was to be the final bid, I had to accept, so that was my intention towards it. Afterall auction is a gamble if you are sicnere in it. It may fetch you plenty and at times even throw you lowest prices. lol

What I was suggesting is that if such a facility is in place, this will assure seller as well as bidders are more genuine, and not just to increae post counts or waste others time. May be real $ or NP$ locked for during auction can prevent people backtracking. Just a suggestion.

I am not gonig to report it to staff though, as I can do nothing if someone refuses to pay, afterall its more of unsaid sincerity to pay and keep words.
Leaving a negative trader remark, will only make him revenge it and thereby affect my so far good standing in the community. I may ofcourse ask staff to remove it if he leaves negative remark as a payback, but I guess, I can use my time better in doing more constructive work, like suggesting maybe a solution to such problems or preventing them in near future. lol
