I got a new name ..But same scam.

It has been so long since I got one .. It almost fooled me until He sent the request for appraisal..

came from - liberman(at)live-host.org

Isaac Liberman

CEO

Live Web Hosting Clue Services

I have no doubt he is on this forum.
He asked - "Are you a member of domain seller communities/forums? Probably, we know each other under some nicknames?"

He or someone like him is still at again. I just got one of these messages...Probably the same lame guy, new name....same codewords....'sedo' saying I know you through 'nicknames' 'appraisal' fake forum page, with link for appraisal.

He also asks for list of your domains with prices....Before he knows your price, he will probably ask you to tell him how much you want for it.

I will be posting specifics on this guy soon...once I know more....Until than, be careful not to get scammed.

Got this one today:

Before we proceed may l ask for one thing?

First of all, we need a valuation (appraisal of your domain made by independent experts). It will show me you are a legitimate seller and the price of your domain is reasonale and based on the last market trends. Please don't worry, it will take only 1-2 minutes to get this valuation.

I prefer appraisal service that also verifies possible trademark infringements. It's important for me to know that your domain has no problems with trademarks. It won't be a problem for you since some good appraisers offer this option (trademark infringement verification) as a free bonus to the appraisal service.

To avoid mistakes and wasting money on useless services I asked in the forum about reliable valuation/TM verification services.

Please read this information:
http: // www .seven-forums. biz /Archive / 49672583108 .htm

The process is very easy:

1. Go to the appraisal site and order the valuation with the TM verification. After several hours you will get the results.

2. Please resend these results via email and we'll proceed with the deal.

If the evaluation comes higher you can change your asking price. After you send me the professional evaluation via email (usually it takes one day to get the results) we'll be doing business.

Live Hosting Services LLC appraisal scam

I was contacted by Joshua Friedman, Initially I thought wicked I’ll sell the domains. After an e-mail exchange he asked me to get the domains appraised. I did think to myself this looks doggy, but then clicked on the links he sent me and did the paypal payment for the appraisal.

Then thank god PayPal would not process the payment as they deemed it to be a scam.

Then I found this forum and sent the scammer Joshua Friedman an e-mail with my findings and a link to this site.

Guess what, no reply from him.

Hello!

I'm interested in buying xxxxxxxxxxx.com.

I've found it through Sedo.

Please respond with how much you are looking for it. Just specify this price in the subject line.

If you have other names for sale please email me your list with prices.

Before we go further we need the following:

Please send me an official appraisal (certificate of price).

Please don't worry, it will take only 2 minutes to order it. I prefer appraisal service that also verifies possible trademark infringements. It's important for me to know that your domain has no problems with trademarks. It won't be a problem for you since some good appraisers offer this option (trademark infringement verification) as a free bonus to the appraisal service.

Without it we cannot be 100% sure in the final sale price. The appraisal will help determine the true value of your domain's worth so you can maximize profits during the sale. On the other hand, it will minimize my risks too.

To avoid mistakes and wasting money on useless automated services I asked in the forum about reliable manual valuation/TM verification services. Please read this:
cnet-forum[dot]biz/Archive/1639250875.htm <-- I adjusted since I cannot post links as a new member. The site doesn't appear to be malicious, just a stupid way to make it look like his scam is valid.

The process is very easy:

1. Go to the appraisal site and order the valuation with the TM verification. After several hours you will get the results.

2. Please resend these results via email and we'll proceed with the deal.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basically, it leads back to iccan.info, a domain that was registered in Feb of this year.

Thanks again to all who shared their experiences and helped people save some $$

I may offer up to 500 usd but the final offer will be based on a professional valuation. I have 4500 usd budget for 12-15 domain names.

How can I pay you (PayPal, Western Union, escrow.com etc.)? If this is your first time domain sale I may help you with the sale/transfer process.

Are you a member of domain seller communities/forums? Probably, we know each other under some nicknames?

I got a similar dialogue from someone using the following info (he switched it up throughout the convo). It seemed spammy/scammy, but I figured my email is public so I had nothing to lose by hearing what he had to say.

First, he offered me $7k over what I asked for, saying he wanted a bigger commission from his client. I told him to buy it from me for $2k and sell it to his client for $9k.

Secondly, he told me that "the industry practice" is to provide appraisals and trademark info. I told him he was mistaken and that I have been in the business for well over a decade. As the buyer he was free to do whatever due diligence he wanted. (His reply was to make sure I didn't miss out on a deal).

Here is his contact info (as if all of the different contact info wasn't a red flag):

[email protected]
Victor Couwenberg
Director Of Investor Relations
Bern
Langmauerweg 27
Phone: 031 311 45 63

[email protected]
J. Bernthal
Investor Relations
Lausanne
Sue du Simplon 38
Phone: 21 311 52 39

The Google searches turned up nothing for any of his contacts. He's not even smart enough to create a fake online persona.

I compared his email to the last email I got from a lawyer looking to buy one of my legal domains. He had a full email signature with all of his contact info... image that!

If it sounds like a scam, it probably is.

And as the captain used to say on Hill Street Blues... HEY.... be careful out there!

Are you a member of domain name groups or societies?

Hi guys...
Can't believe these are still going...

Can we add Joshua Goldstein ,Vice President to the list of scammers?
His client had an apparent $470,000 to invest in domains but didn't have the common sense or knowledge to value what he was buying himself....
Have to wonder how he managed to get that money in the first place - or even get dressed in the mornings....anyway told him very politely to 'go away'....:)

Scam alert

Recently got emails from a man named Michael Wasserman claiming that he is the Vice President of Investor Relations for "vpspace.com"

After doing some research its another appraisal scam. Glad I did that research.

Our email conversations lead to this and I immediately know it was a scam:

Ok. Great! Before we send you the money my investor needs only one thing from you:

As you may know all major domain brokers does not allow listing above $1000 or higher if you don't have an official appraisal. Since the sale price is not low in our case, my client needs an official certificate of price (appraisal). He also needs to know you have no trademark problems. It won't be a problem since I know an official appraiser that offers this option (trademark infringement verification) for free as a part of the appraisal service.

I'm also interested in a good valuation and a high sale price because my client pays me a commission (10-15% of the sale price) on every domain purchase. So I'm not interested in low sales too. I will suggest you an appraiser who can give you a good value. Unfortunately, without the appraisal my client won't proceed.

Of course, you should not use a free automated service like Estibot or similar services. My client does not accept them. I was working for Estibot and knew they were using automated scripts for free appraisals. In our case we need a real manual valuation.

To avoid mistakes and wasting money on useless automated services I asked in Google Answers about reliable manual valuation/TM verification services. Please read this:

The process is very easy:

1. Go to the appraisal site and order the valuation with the TM verification. Submit your domains to them and let them know you have a buyer with $X,XXX offer so you need the appraisal near this value. After several hours you will get the results.

2. Then send these results via email and we'll proceed with the deal. You can increase the final price by $500 to cover your time and money expenses.

If you are new to the appraisal process I can help you with step by step instructions.

Michael Wasserman

I thought it was too good to be true, did some research after receiving this and here are the list of flaws;

61 is the country code for Australia 41 is the Swiss code.

Virtual-Space.info is owned by someone else (who is Swedish), it also redirects to the .com which is also owned by someone else.

Pays to be vigilant.

I don't know which mail provider you guys use but gmail sends these emails automatically to the spam folder. The funny thing is to reply with a very stupid value and the bot replies that is going to pay you the same amount lol just go and appraise bla bla bla.
