Hey people,

I wanted to know why the age of the domain play a vital role??

I mean why some people only prefer aged domains??

Also , people try not to buy new domains,even though the name is good...Why is it?

old domains preferred because they are (normally ) indexed , have some sort of pr , history , backlinks

we just developed an old name from 1998 that we caught off a drop and it got cached at g right away. we have not even done anything for it yet. we think it was related to the age of the name for sure.

Black hat SEO, email spammers, and cybersquatters are known for regging domains, using them for a few months till they get blocked or caught. Because of this, domains with 3-5+ years of having an active website are of much higher value if you are looking to develop.

Totally disagree with your statement, this is over now. They remove aged domain in algorithm since last year. They are not silly, they also know that SEO companies buys aged domains to rank high.

Try getting a newly regged .info name ranked vs. an old .com domain. You'll see the difference that age and extension can cause

No, domain age is still a factor, just a small one among 100's of others.

They track people buying up aged domains by registrant changes in the whois data.
