Why do domainers suppose the "Dollar Down" marketing concept is dead? I can't be the first one ever to think about Dollar Down Deals for things like Homes, Cars or even Domains?

I know I'm famous for my "crappy" domains, but DollarDown "anything" can be very attractive to both buyers and sellers. Any thoughts?

Actually Planet Fitness (symb: PLNT) is the latest big brand company to use the "dollar down" concept to attract new members. Planet Fitness has 1,600 locations worldwide, and as a public company has a 5.6 Billion dollar market cap. Also, many car/auto dealers, new and used, use "dollar down" marketing to attract buyers. I just find it hard to believe professional domainers haven't picked up on it. Billions of dollars in deals have been made over the years with just a dollar down. DollarDownDomains and DollarDownFitness have a certain appeal imho. A friend of mine founded Dollar Tree here in Virginia Beach, and while it's hard to believe, he became a real billionaire selling stuff for a dollar. His book, "One Buck at a Time" was published in 2017, and it's one of my favorite business stories. Dollar Tree (symb:DLTR) has over 14,000 stores, and a 23.5 Billion dollar market cap.

I think he might be referring to the idea of placing a $1 down payment on a product or service in order to gain immediate access to it?

I could be wrong... Didn't find anything on The Goog that explained this marketing concept.

You're exactly right Joe...the "Dollar Down" concept does just that. Car dealers, health clubs, appliance businesses and even tire companies have been using the dollar down concept for years. It can be used for establishing ones credit, or it can be used for emergency purchases like tires, appliances, or even computers.

The Almighty Dollar is a pretty powerful tool Joe, and just a dollar down can buy an awful lot of "product or service in order to gain immediate access to it"

You may want to check out the DollarDown Store....who knows, they may be selling DollarDown Domains:xf.wink:

I think there's nothing wrong with DollarDown______.com, but not for "anything".
You'd have to carefully research the industry before you reg any such domains and only reg those that actually have business doing dollar down on their product.

DollarDownEscorts won't work. But if it did, I would also reg DollarDownDoctor and market it on the DollarDownEscorts site. :xf.grin:

Thanks...we agree. I was just using DollarDown "Anything" as an example that you can buy pretty much anything with just a dollar down....Cars, Homes, Computers, Phones, TV's, Furniture etc. Similar to Dollar Tree, you can walk into the Dollar Down Store, and put just a dollar down to buy just about anything you want as long as you're capable of paying for it over time. I'm thinking of it as a way to establish credit, or a form of layaway to pay for something you can take delivery for later.....there are all sorts of possibilities(y)

These days it's popular in the Internet Marketing/Make Money/SEO niche to charge a dollar for membership access or for full trial software for X amount of time. You pay $1 down with the idea that, unless you cancel in X days, you will be charged full price for the monthly, quarterly, yearly, or lifetime fee.
