question Does domain name still effect website ranking in serach results?

Does keywords in a domain name still play a role in search results?
From what I know, Google for example has evolved a lot through the years and its algorithm no longer gives importance for the domain name. Is it zero importance (like what I think it is)? or I am wrong and there is still some importance for that?
