Hello everyone,

Traffic is the life blood of the online industry.

My question is: do you have a traffic generating "secret". I'm not asking you to state your secret here; I just want to know how many people have some clever technique.

If the name is good, it will attract its own traffic :)

A good keyword name gets its own automatic type-in traffic, while other names get traffic by branding, developing, and advertising.

Well put!

One of my developed websites was recently featured on one of the netโ€™s most respected review sites and my traffic increased by 45% in a matter of minutes and has continued to increase ever since. I contacted the administrator of this site and asked why he chose my site since I hadnโ€™t contacted him prior, his answer โ€œcontentโ€, โ€œI found your site and it had good contentโ€ he said. Itโ€™s the reason the internet exists

The "Domain King's" theory seems to be start with a great name and then put very little information on it so people click through quicky so he earns loads of money in PPC.

You can have loads of traffic coming to your site and never make a penny !

If making money is not your main priority and getting lots of traffic is then it's got to be great content and a good keyword rich title relevant to the content of each page.IMO :)

Great Question

are you saying the opposite? What if making money is my main priority, then what should I do?

Lesson Learned

So I guess it would be safe to say that a lightly developed website with good content and a good domain name should attract constant traffic and high click-through-rates.

Every little bit helps. A good (keyword, etc.) name, promotion, content, development, design, regular updates, etc. Being really good in any one of these is a big plus, but being good in more is definitely better. Gimmicks also work, no matter what people will tell you, albeit only temporarily; but every bit of getting people to your site helps, especially if you have content enough that's ready to bring them back and telling their friends about it.

yea

some say it's development , other say it's keywork, or some SEO work.

maybe for some quickie (i mean temporary solution), you can try traffic exchanges.

a.) Please don't spam in this thread.

AND

b.) I feel development is important. Try to repeat keywords in your content to get a higher google ranking. Please the link in your sig in forums to let google place you higher. Most of all, advertise in appropriate forums!

That's the domain King's theory, he's calls it stickiness ! He aims to get loads of people to his website (with a great domain) and "encourage them" to leave, the sooner the better via a PPC link so he makes lots of money.

It seems to work for him ! :) although he had the vision to grab many good high traffic domains at an early stage.

Make's sense to me if you're only goal is to make money and not provide useful information for free, obviously it is a different matter if you are selling products from your site you would want them to stick around for a long time and spend lots of dosh !

stickiness or slipperyness, I'm confused?

Sticky sites encourage repeat traffic, what you describe sounds like a bathroom that needs a flushing.

basically you need to invest money to make money

paid advertising is really the only way to launch a site from scratch which doesn't have natural type-in traffic

if you can make this money back + profit with revenue from clients and PPC then you have yourself a business. Yes, there are other ways but this is deemed the most successful

LOL ! :) - I don't think I did a very good explination of stickiness, as far as I understand it is if the site has TOO MUCH STICKINESS people will stay - If on the otherhand there is not much content they will leave quicky hopefully throught a PPC link.

Yes, some would say this is Slipperyness or even just shittyness, that depends on your ethics, opinions, hopes or intentions.

But at the end of the day business is business, it seems to work for him and I can see his point.

When did this turn into a thread about encouraging people to click links?

Content, Frequent updates, Good title/description, attention to design/detail, sweat equity and did I mention content.

Unless you own something like music.com or such it takes hard work. Almost forgot a bit of luck.
