I'm with GoDaddy but I'd like to know if any registrar does.

Automatically setting nameservers meaning that when you register a domain name it sets it to the nameservers you want not the registrar nameservers. Good for when you always park a newly registered domain name.

you can customize the default dns btw
http://help.godaddy.com/article/3878
from then on all domains registered will use what you've specified as default.

Yeah I saw those instructions but they are for resellers. The first instruction says "Log in to your Reseller Control Center."

Some registrars allows a user to enter their desired nameservers while trying
to register the domain name. AFAIK there isn't any that, say, automatically
uses your desired settings while checking out, but that's an interesting thing.

if you have only a few domains on godaddy then entering/modifying dns is not a big deal, but if you got like thousands getting a reseller account does that for you, might be something to look at. while godaddy.com nameserver change under manage domains, just ticking on the domains you want name servers change and it's change as a group.

I think it would be need to be done via an API and a software would need to be used.

Like.... I use Dnware Moniker domain grabber. So if I know a domain is available, I just put it into the software and hit send. It registers it right away and uses my info I have set in the software. Which includes DNS, along with whois info and Nic ID.

I am big on macro software, like Macro Express. If you have to manually go in and change it every time you could always set up a macro to do it...

fwiw, enom has the default nameserver option for resellers.

it looks like setting default host records is an option for retail customers.

This is one of the main reasons I am regging at Moniker these days even though Godaddy is 25 cents cheaper. With GD's S-L-O-W control area it takes an hour or two to reset DNS after I buy 5 domains. And if you set it when you pick out the first domain (in the midst of all the ads), the option is not even available after that.

Moniker has default DNS, and a whole lot quicker all together.

I reg my names @ Name.com & have the nameservers automatically go to Parked.com nameservers

Even Euro DNS lets you set up default profile including NS.

dynadot have this. also default whois info.

dynadot also "remember" the nameservers and whois info you enter, so that once you've entered them, you can then select from a dropdown.
