question Do you use Domain Privacy ?!

I am just curious if I should use domain privacy or not.
I keep on reading about people that receive inbound e-mails, so I assume that someone actually do a whois on a domain ? Or when you say inbound you are just referring to a landing page where people actually sends you an e-mail ?!

I never use privacy unless its accidentally turned on by default without me knowing. I cant see the reason for it if I and trying to sell domains. Whether I have a landing page or whether the name is listed on every marketplace, I still want people to email me if they use the WHOIS info.

Most of our domains are under Privacy.

Moved 'em a few years ago to the Cloak of Privacy - tired of calls, and emails from pests, scammers,
pseudo --developers, stupid name offers, ad infinitum.

Most of the names I would sell are listed at BIN prices - I've placed 'em at the lowest price I would accept
IF we negotiated the name's price so as far as I'm concerned the names are already price negotiated, so take 'em or leave 'em via INBOUND only.

I found it hard to vote because, well, I partly do and partly don't and still feel unsure re this.

I do use privacy on domains I am using for development or for other reasons do not have for sale.

I feel with good landers, and especially after new EU restrictions, the whois is not that important a way for someone to find your domain contact, so I don't feel strongly that you need privacy turned off.

I mainly object to the phone calls that come in from (mainly) desperate developers who have bought a list of domain contact information. It is interesting that they offer to get me on page 1 of Google, which if they could do that for themselves, why is it they would need to contact me? Anyway. For obvious reasons my phone number is mainly one I use voicemail on and not my personal phone. I check it regularly, but just delete the calls that are obviously spam. The similar emails are bothersome but fairly easily deleted.

Actually, really serious guys - companies, holdings, lawyer groups, does not need any landers, because for their really serious money - $xxx.xxx, they do not play any "games". They want only "pay - and go". Because it's Domain, it's not manufacturing center of 10 square miles

Unfortunately, given my preference, l’m sorry l ever bought even one domain name via Ionos—much less 24! When l asked this company how to make my contact details public, l was told that because it is a foreign company—l forget exactly where—it must keep all contact details private.

I believe lONOS should make this policy very clear before a sale—but l’m sure it doesn’t, as it would put the kibosh on many potential sales!

I don't. Because GoDaddy (where i'm consolidating most of my names) doesn't have free privacy I found it's cheaper to get a PO Box and just use that...

I am against whois privacy, Because... If someone wants domain, and wants to pay, for example, x.xxx, he will check whois, and it should not be closed. Person wants to know who you are to pay, i think it's obvious.

I have used privacy for a while because I got tired of the spam. But I would actually prefer not to use it, so today I removed it from most of my domains. Within an hour I had the first email in my inbox offering "complete website services" from India...

So I guess privacy is coming back on again. Dynadot offers partial privacy that shows the registrant name/company name, but the rest is private. I think that is a good compromise.

I am new to all this... But learning as I go. For my own site I use privacy, however, when I started buying domains on GD via auctions never had any issues with spammers. I also registered several domains at Dynadot and have a couple at Ionos and both give free privacy and I left it on.

But a month ago I bought my first name on DropCatch and as fast as it dropped into my NameBright account they provided- Holly Cow did I get slammed with hundreds of not stop phone calls all spoofed for various locations in US and some overseas number. At first I answered, but finally had to put my phone on do not disturb. NameBright does offer first year free privacy but its off by default. Based on your guys recommendation I did leave it off. What I can say is ever spammer that has called me has been from a domain I got from DropCatch that went to NameBrite.

I have picked up a few on Snap Names / NamesJet also, but not sure about them as my phone is still on Do Not Disturb.

The spammers even went a step further and started messaging me via FB and LI.

So my question is why would anyone do business with these spammer people? But obviously people do for them to keep it up this much.

But if privacy is on. And someone really wanted to buy my domain... Wouldn't they simply right the privacy contact which would then be forwarded to me?
