Do some research BEFORE selling a domain. I didnt!

Ok so I had this domain sitting around for over a year that I'd bought for a friend for a project he never got round to doing. Then about 2 months ago I got an email out of the blue offering me £250 (about $400) for it. So obviously I just said 'Sure, send me the cash' and thought nothing of it.

Well imagine my surprise when I checked out the url to find out that it's the name of the newly refurbished Camden Palace in London UK!!!! A 1500 capaicty venue with 6 bars. It's sure to be making millions.

So I've learned a valuable lesson and one worth sharing. When some one sends you an email for a domain name do some research. A simple check at www.companieshouse.co.uk would of told me all I needed to know and maybe a few selective emails to people I know in the nightclub game but no I didn't do anything of the sort.

Just out of curiosity knowing what it was going to be used for what would of been a better price to ask for it in your opinions?

Look at the bright side. Now you have extra cash to invest in more domain names. Maybe you'll come up with another "big" name and this time you will do your homework and reap the benefits.
