We all know that

Luck.com or 888.com are great names to have but would you buy something like luck888.com?

or do you always keep your words and numbers seperate?

Would something like lucky746 have any value in your mind? (just an example i know that 4 is not a lucky number for some lol)

I try to keep words and numbers seperate, out of my 60 something domains I only have one domain that starts with a number and 4 letters after that.

One successful example is 2advanced.com. They have a market leading website in the flash segment - let alone 2advanced.net (their sistercompany) offering hosting.

Any domain name, wether it be 10 numbers or 10 letters, has potential to some degree (ofcourse some have more, some have less), but it all comes down to marketing/promotion and how much work you put into a project.

If you have a product called product77, it would make sense to register product77.com wouldn't it? It really depends on a lot of things, but in general it pays off to keep numbers and words seperate. In other words, keep it simple :)

I would say that they only mix well if there is some logical association between the word(s) and the numbers.

Just registering highly competitive keywords with numbers after them, however, doesn't create value, unless the number has particular value or meaning to you, and you are willing to put significant effort into branding that meaning.

Just from these replys, I will stay away from them :loveyou:

no..unless it has some meaning.

Remember that just by adding a number there are 20 variations of the same domain (eg. 1domain, 2domain, domain2 etc).
You won't expect any type-in and neither a resale (why buying one when I can reg 8domain.com instead?)

Numbers mixed with letters sometimes make perfect sense.

7daysAweek.com
2toTango.com
80daysAroundTheWorld.com
4thOfJuly.com

However, if you plan to develop this type of name/site, be sure to register the character version of the name as well or you may very well lose significant traffic.

SevenDaysAweek.com
TwotoTango.com
EightyDaysAroundTheWorld.com
FourthOfJuly.com

2totango is a perfect example of a good number/name combo. TwoToTango just looks horrible, and would probably be harder to remember.

Sometimes companies register names like this when they do a lot of visual advertising of their domain name instead of seo. They usually don't have much room for a long name, so the 2 not only stands out in people's heads, it breaks up the words on either side of it to make the name more noticable/rememberable.

Nameboy.com is one of those name suggestion tools (in case you didn't know), and I was excited when I did a search for "forum" and it returned 4um.com as available. I should've known better! 4um.com is an awesome name imho.

Agree completely. But my point was that if you were promoting 2totango.com, you'd want to register twototango.com just to capture that traffic if somebody types the word instead of the number. Just have it redirect to the first site.

i never buy a name with number combination, because as i learned in this forum as a newbie, it is not good to combine those. this was one of the primary rules for succesful domain business :)

I don't know who you learned that from, but as discussed above, there are many cases where the mix is beneficial.
