NamePros is second at around 11%. The winner, DNF, is at 54%.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I'd like to know the parameters of the survey, where they find the voters, how the numbers are totalled.

For example, if the owner/s of domainnamewire are active members at DNF and mention or start threads for the survey over there, but don't do the same at all the other forums... or even if they are a member at a few forums, but only really hang out daily at one forum so the members there naturally visit their site more than the members from here would...

I have no idea how they carry out their survey, but that process is the most important thing to know before anyone can accept the results as being balanced and accurate.

Dnw must somehow find voters to vote for this... yet I've never seen them post a thread mentioning 'it's time to vote', here at NP.

Would like to know how/where they find voters; is anyone here from domainnamewire and can clear up the exact process they use to find voters and get the votes? Thanks

@Bannen The owner of DNW does not 'hang' on any forum, though he belongs to them all. The survey is always noted on his blog (which is 'always' on Domaining.com) when it comes around. And the voters are domainers that either read his blog or see it noted somewhere, and he does not note it on one forum and not another. There is no 'hidden agenda' for one entity to win over another, and if after 7 years you aren't familiar with it and vote on it - don't know what to say. Everyone else knows of it and votes on it.

Thanks H

If that's an accurate vote from a broad and balanced domainer spectrum, then the new Namepros owner has his work cut out for him... 11% here versus 54% dnform is a huge difference.

The survey doesn't make much sense when I read:

"There’s a virtual three way tie for the second most popular forum. NamePros received the second highest vote total. Nipping at its heals is the private forum DBR, and DomainState is just a couple votes shy of DBR. When rounded, all three forums got 11% of the vote each."

So how does DomainState, with 2 members online at the time of this post and run up with spammers, virtually tied with this forum and DBR?

JB I'd ask Andrew at DNW, but I'd suspect the spammers at DS voted and NPer's - didn't. (Or voted for another forum!)

Hey guys,

I didn't post the survey to any forums and only announced it on DNW and on Twitter. Elliot also posted about it on his blog.

It's an unscientific survey, so certainly it's not definitive. Any one could have posted about it on any forum or asked people to vote. I ran into some issues in some categories this year with companies promoting the survey. I wrote about that here:

http://domainnamewire.com/2012/02/21/what-should-i-do-about-the-dnw-survey/

DNF has been on top every year except one, I believe. But usually the delta is smaller.

I was kind of surprised to see DomainState on there as well, frankly.

Thanks for the info;
How many votes were there in total?

The survey accomplished the obvious on the forum issue, Stated the 1 and 2 (and order) that everyone knows, and that the others are really outside the statistical deviation of this kind of vote. But its a creative way to to have a blog topic so hats off to that.
