I don't know the best place to post this, so let's hope this is good enough.
For the past week or so, I've noticed that my internet has been acting up. Whenever I visit a website, often, my browser sticks on either "Looking up www.asdf.com" or "Waiting for www.asdf.com" for anywhere from 1-5 seconds, then connects to the site, and loads it lightning fast (after those initial seconds). It happens for every page requested, rather than once a website.
I tried flushing the DNS, clearing the cache, running it in both IE and FF, running windows in safe mode, resetting cable modem and router, updating Java (you'd be surprised how many problems that can fix), contacting ISP to check if they have any outages - no dice.
I'm 90% sure its a problem with the DNS lookup because a few quick googles said that the symptoms I'm experiencing are akin to DNS lookup problems.
I'm running Windows XP SP2, FF3, IE7, and it's been going on for like a week now. I haven't changed any hardware and I'm pretty sure I haven't installed any firewall/etc that may be messing it up. Plus, if it were a firewall problem, the sites wouldn't load at all, right?
Any ideas?
Thanks!
