The only safe way to reinstall hacked server is format HD and make new clean install.

Ya, same guy who hacked Namepros a while back...

Not rocket science, his modus operandi is to call the host pretending to be the owner and cons someone into giving out passwords etc...

Hope all you guys with accounts there dont use the same email and password for anything of any value elsewhere - paypal, registrars, Namepros, your bank etc etc etc etc - if so, change immediately....

Yeah he is famous now but when I was using this avatar 2 years ago everyone thought is me (and nobody dared to flame with me)

DNF... Hacked???... I only just saw this.

I am guessing he has just took over the domain, and not the site, which means that all our information is safe.

I highly doubt vBulletin, the highest priced forum software that is wide known across the net, has any exploits that allowed him into the site.

I just saw the shoutbox and the sob story music the prat has put on there.

I am guessing he has been a member at DNF, as he says "i told u not to report stolen domains here" or something like that.

It was not domain hijacking because look http://209.85.46.125/ (and I never heard about "IP" hijacking case). And the server was running on windows...

Theres nothing much more to add to it....

Last time he hacked NP's he called the host (as i believe) and obtained access to the NP servers that way. If my memory serves me right, safesys over at DS helped recover the site...

It seems the same this time, as the dnf root domain is still pointing to the same place it always was cept the index page has been replaced.

And unfortunately, obtaining access to the files held on the server also means he has access to all your/our user ids and passwords - despite talk of VB being like fort knox

Don't think its a forum exploit.

"Well, this hacker was able to successfully impersonate me to a support representative at my datacenter and convinced them enough to hand over my customer login and password. I'm really shocked by how little information about me was needed to do this. Once logged into my provider's member's area, it was a piece of cake to get support techs to reset our server passwords." This was written by RJ when namepros was hacked (http://72.14.221.104/search?q=cache...php?sid=5264+DNJOURNAL2005&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1)

also http://highimpactsites.com/ is down.
