Hi, I researched two names a few hours ago:
Porn.ms
MBA.cc
They were definitely free.

Now wanted to reg them at GoDaddy ... and they suddenly are taken. Could be normal, but look at one Whois entry:

Is this just unlucky or possibly a scam? Maybe a trojan/spyware on my notebook?

could be that, or could be that Godaddy cheated and acquired the name first using some fake info IMO!

Baaaah, that would be a scandal. Or is it usual?! GoDaddy is the market leader, they shouldn´t do that of course. Nightmare! D-:

I'm getting this from nic.ms re: Porn.ms
Domain Information
Query: porn.ms
Status: Not Registered
Don't know if it's just slow....
Sometimes they show as taken at Godaddy,
when their really not. Especially the ccTLD's
:imho:

Tank you! But GD shows it as taken, again. Hmmm.

Go Daddy has consistently said they don't do that. Not that it's stopped any
person from conveniently believing otherwise, anyway.

Whatever your arguably understandable reasons for not doing it on the spot,
Blitzpotz, be aware that no one can guarantee availability will stay that way
by the time you get around to it. There's a saying going like "Carpie Diem".

sorry for your loss, but of course gd will get to that first, they're running software to do that.

I remember times without mobile phone, without internet, even without fax. Those times weren´t the worst ones.

As Dave Zan said: Carpe diem ... while the big ones grow bigger ... and bigger ... and ...

This is the problem :'( You should have atleast reg fee ready when searching ;) Next time I guess you will register it then and there instead of waiting for some hours.

Well, I first searched on a German registrar site. Then browsed for infos about .cc and .ms (the latest I never heard, but I liked the ma.o-.ado appeal). Two hours later I went to GD and tried to register them in one step.

Yes then the problem is of the site where you perform the lookup searches :)

Thanks.

There is no proof for that thesis. But it is as probable as the other adoption. In both cases it would be first time this has happended. Hopefully both names are not the first then to have quality LOL

If anyone has similar experiences please post them here.
