Domain Name Price Increase Notification - NameCheap.com

Hello Jacob:

Because select registries are increasing the prices of domains to us, the prices of .com, .net, .org and .info domains are going up 40 cents to $9.69. This will be an industry wide change and will affect all registrars effective in October. This is an increase that is being forced upon us by the registries that handle these extensions. NameCheap does and always will try to bring you the lowest, honest and up front pricing possible. It is for this reason we want to make it clear that this was not a decision we at NameCheap took on our own.

Fortunately, NameCheap domains will still be $9.29 until September 30, so we encourage you to take advantage of this lower price for the next couple of weeks. All domains still come with a free one year Comodo PositiveSSL certificate to secure all of the information your visitors enter into your site as well as free WhoisGuard. You can register domains at this lower cost at the NameCheap website.

To get coupons for new domains, transfers, and renewals as well as regular updates from NameCheap, please subscribe to our newsletter.

Thoughts?

Wow... 40 cents is a rather large jump... domains are somewhat equivalent to gas for me. :)

I received my notice yesterday too .
With coupons etc there will always be ways to save a few bucks of the set price.

Namecheap offers a permanent discount for those with 50+ domains with them (you have to ask for it to be added to your account though)

Rather than make a new thread, I figured it might be appropriate to mention here that DYNADOT .com and .net registrations will be $9.25 starting October 1.
