I do the same but I have created a list of my personal favorite root words which have resulted in quick sales for good prices and I stick to the list.

I no longer buy short URLs but am leaning to exact keyword searches.
Yeah good point. to elaborate when I say I'm looking for good names of all types, I do have different types of brandables in the back of my head, and I'm looking for them with everything else.

Also, it seems there's a lot of people only trying to invent words. Look at brandable short keywords or phrases. The names don't have to be random things like pinkmonkey or something like that, they can be actual keywords. For example I have EpicPoems.com listed EstoyBien.com and PinkSuit.com different types of names but all words.

Unless it sounds like a recognizable keyword and/or contains a targeted keyword + popular suffix, I stay away from 6L+. With the exception of changing the beginning letter of a keyword such as Cabbage with a Q, Qabbage.

I personally am trying to ride in the wake of the 5L chip buyout by buying pronounceable 5L.coms with repeating characters. With the explosion of CVCVs, I'm banking on CVCCV's.

@kittu Based off my CVCV-CVCCV theory, I would've registered your username. ;)

I can't say I'm surprised as they only have 13 "bucket" domains for sale. Still, I find it funny since they do like the io suffix.

I So happy now, after my last rejected domain ofily.com I decide to ask BB to delete my account and just receive email conformation from them - no more "great expectation" from this amazing marketplace

Bucket = Good, IO = good, Bucket+IO not good )

While I appreciate your feedback, I respectfully disagree. The .IO TLD works for bucket so why shouldn't Bucket + IO + .com. IO in the developer world signifies in / out. Bucket in, bucket out...

I was kidding. ..

I don't see much logic in bb decisions.

Now if I reread it I can clearly see the sarcasm.

I didn't catch it the first time I read it.

Tipsy - BrandBucket is kid friendly. While Tipsy isn't too adult, combining this with a drinking reference and this becomes 21+. Namerific is a little more acceptable of alcohol domains.

Drive - A brandable from of drive fast? or perhaps drive blazed? Sometimes I check twitter to see what social media is saying about my keywords. The last tweet is:

I think he's saying he want's to 420 domain but he doesn't want to drive to the discussion forum.

Just because they like it as an extension doesn't mean it works as a suffix with this exact word. It sounds really bad matched with Bucket.

Of course, Bucket looks perfect together with Brand )

That is where brands are normally kept ) BrandBarn would have been even better, but was already taken. So were BrandButter.com, BrandBoiler.com, BrandBullet.com, BrandBasinette.com and few others.

I'm not talking about how it looks but I am talking about how it sounds. Who cares what it looks like when it sounds like shit.

While I'm biased and personally disagree, sales reports do support your argument. Granted there are many more english words ending in 't' than the 669 words ending in et.

Plenty of sales ending in "tio"

There are no sales reported ending in "etio"

after reviewing this thread i should say that i found that in 99% i agree with BB on their "rejects"
...what i keep continually being surprised by is approx. 80% of their "accepts"
how much do they sell in a year as a percentage of their whole inventory?
wondering if they earn more from listing + logo fees than from domain sales
"ok, we need to pay our office rent again so lets accept some 1,000 of random stuff to quickly raise $10,000 by the end of this month" sort of things?

I would think they have at least $100k per month for operating expense, assuming $4 mil annual sales @ 30% gross...

I'm curious to how you would break down the assumed monthly $100k operating expenses by percentages.
