IMO,

You have already sorted in Exact order.

1.Holo

2.Hologram

3.Holographic

4.Holograph

But the term holograph used for other purposes too...

I would put Holographic on par with hologram in 2nd place behind holo ............if you see hololens.com website it says on the first page - " The era of holographic computing is here"........I think holographic is well up there with hologram

Which of these is the is the industry term? Holo, hologram, holographic holograph?

'Holo' is a lot of fun to work with and can be made into a brandable in so many ways (Holotising for example) - but one thing to be careful with the term 'Holo'...
Virtually ANYthing with just 'Holo(+word)' WILL be subject to TM rights in the future and if anyone pays attention to Berkens' blog (The Domains), who regularly covers a lot of tm cases... it really does not matter which came first - the business or the registration. Good luck figuring out the logic there also as one never knows what will happen.
Microsoft could have easily just waited for their hololens product to be ready and slapped a UDRP on the domain owner and chances are - it would have been theirs... but for what they paid for it (i believe it was $6k?), it was just so much easier (and probably cheaper than the retainer fee's they pay) to just buy it for a reasonable number... less headache, less pub and probably less money.

Holographic+, Hologram+ and Holograph+ are mostly all generic and by nature will be safer to hold and gamble on, imo.

As far as best industry term... these seem to vary depending on what you're going after.

For me anyway, this seems to be more about what sounds best.. a rhythm, a flow..
... for example, what do you like better:
• Holographic Conferencing
• Hologram Conferencing

personally, i like Holographic Conferencing better out of these two. The biggest trade off it seems is the word Holographic has three more characters than Hologram

however... what do you like better here:
• Holographic Marketing
• Hologram Marketing

in this one, i like Hologram Marketing better. just a better flow and rhythm

These are all just my thoughts on the matter and how i have learned to perceive this all over the years... by all means, ignore everything i said if you don't agree. :)

you won't find that in the dictionary ... any real dictionary anyway
... what you see in any word reference and such is just a prefix
holo is an abbreviation for the bigger term, thus a brandable

if hologram is subject - then any word anywhere would be subject and we should all stop registering any names at all

I think lot of you are overlooking AR (=augmented reality). If you read pretty much any article about the hololens, it is mentioned that it is actually augmented reality.

Also, there is for an example already castAR (http://technicalillusions.com/). As well as the abbreviation AR for augmented reality is catching on. e.g. yesterday's tech podcast by The Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/technolo...augmented-virtual-reality-tech-weekly-podcast

I have only one AR domain so I'm not massively biased about this. Majority of the AR+keyword combinations seem to be taken already.

"Augmented" is very hard to pronounce/type when compared with "Holo" and also prone to mistyping e.g. you can bet that many non-English people will type something like augumented instead of augmented or ogmented or augmentid. Also the pronouncing of A.R. sounds almost like A.I. The "R" sound in English is very unfortunate for marketing, in my opinion.

If you say...

So i guess ill drop this one...

:D

You dont have to drop, what I was trying to say is not that many people search for "porns" on the internet but they do "porn" making "porn" a highly desirable word to have in a domain, hence the 14 bids

I actually think they misnamed it: HoloLens. It's awkward to say. Is it Hollow-Lens, or Whole-O-Lens?? They need to take a course from Margot Bushnaq at Brand Bucket before they name their products.

Side projects (which essentially what this is to Microsoft's core business) for major juggernaut corporations are not as brand spelling dependent as smaller companies are. They can easily make up for that in their already well established name and distribution channels, media, and press.

and besides.... did YOU make a mistake with "Hollow-Lens, or Whole-O-Lens". Come on now.
