We will start to see a lot of Holo names being used to describe VR/360.

Hologramr.com

Had to jump on the bandwagon on this one. Saw that it has had a previous life but I can only deduce that previous owners lacked patience/sales pitch...! Can see this sort of name branded into an authority website.

Just sitting on a couple names right now. Haven't seen much movement in this industry since HoloLens.

I have HoloGoggles, HoloCall, HoloSystem, HoloMessenger, HoloBay and a few others in .com.

Let's hope the term "Holo" continues to develop.

Lol... What's up with these people that don't do ANYTHING with their domains yet are absolutely adamant that the domains are NOT FOR SALE.

"He thinks" it's not for sale, unless he's offered a six or seven figure amount I'm supposing...which isn't impossible. In fact, he's probably in the strongest position to command that kind of money, a genuine 'unmotivated seller'.

Anyway, I just coined the phrase 'Holodeckers'...com :)

Anyone want to make this guy a 'really stupid offer' for Holodeck.com?

Pretty average name anyway for this niche.I find it hard to believe hes had 10K offers on this one

I don't know about that - you're aware of the Star Trek 'HoloDeck' right? That's basically now the name for any kind of (proposed) holographic virtual reality environment. The only problem is whether or not that term is trademarked by the owners of the Star Trek franchise.

Just typing "microsoft" + "holodeck" into Google comes up with over 180k results.

Exactly.

No one knows exactly what term will be used for hologram technology.

I've seen people register holo, hologram, HL, Holographic, HoloDeck etc...

I have covered most bases with ok names in each, but it is a bit of a lottery to know exactly what will be the most popular adopted term.

If HoloDeck does come into play I have:

HOLODECKCAMS
HOLODECKGIRLS
HOLODECKMOVIES
HOLODECKPORNO
HOLODECKTUBE
HOLODECKXXX
HOLODECKCASINO
HOLODECKPOKER

All dot king

Probably a waste of money but just to cover another base.

You're right, and I've also bought a few different variations to cover bases and hopefully in a year or two it will become clearer which term 'wins' and I can drop names accordingly.

I would say that I think Holo is the clear favourite at the moment. I think the HoloLens has almost determined that already. A couple of the dozen or so adult vr pay sites have even chosen holo domain names/brandnames. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if holo becomes ultimately more valuable than vr with regards to domain names.

What sounds better when you are creating a product/brand/company or whatever?
Holoxxxx or VRxxxx...

The choice is clear. For example HoloGlass vs VRGlass.... IMO HoloGlass wins every day.

That may be so,. but it really has nothing to do with Microsoft, if you look its just the same words are in the article, it really means nothing

There is a TM anyway so he can use it for what he is now, but he cant sell it to someone for any of the purposes mentioned in the TM details .....@Gary Beale, I wouldnt bother with those either, its not worth messing with TM'd names

Thanks for info. Like I said covered a few bases, so hopefully one will pay off :) But yes I agree, not worth messing with trademark.

Not sure what you mean there. I was just using it as an example of how the term 'holodeck' has come to be used whenever anything remotely to do with 'holographic' entertainment (even pseudo holographic as in the HoloLens and other augmented/mixed reality) is mentioned in the media. It having 'nothing to do with microsoft' just proves the point I was trying to make.

But yes, you're right about the trademark, as I thought.

No problem, alI I was saying is its not relevant to recent holo developments, most of those articles refer to all the old star wars stuff

The TM spoils it for people with holodeck names though
