I know freegames.net sold for $50k this year and gamesfree.net is for sale at $15k.

Does the position of keywords really matter that much?

Hello,

I wanted to chime in on your question and I believe you may have already answered your question. Yes keyword position is very critical I can see "Free Games" being far more popular of a search term then "Games Free" ......I mean this one it's not a killer but other domains it absolutely kills value. So once again keyword position is huge!

Cheers and welcome to namepros.com enjoy your stay and should you need any help let me know ;)

ya free games is a nice exact matching domain worth the $ and makes more sense.

Both are worth money but it is night and day. Games free feels more like it would be worth a reasonable amount, but I think 15k is too much in my opinion.

according to estibot
people search for free games about 3,425,000 monthly

They search for games free about 50k to 100k monthly

NOTE: I did not verify these #s with other tools like adwords keyword tool.

It is actually 1.2M times compared to 100k according to Google, but those extra 1,100,000 people searching for something must mean something :)

If it didn't work that way there would be little point to the game of domaining since any bozo could register anything and sell it the same day flooding out the true great names.

(I thought I recall someone saying they got an offer of 90k as well for the name, did they get too greedy? lol)

I think with a good SEO, gamesfree.net domain can be made to rank on the first page from the keyword "free games". The difference of price (35K), introduced in SEO services can do easily this thing. You can remain with some money, for promoting other keywords, in the same site.

If you had the opportunity to reg or purchase gamesfree.net and you stuck by that rule you'd be out 15K.

yes but if i could have had both and went by my rule i would have 50k for the obviously correct term

The other one is the incorrect way of saying it. Nonetheless, google will still consider them both for the keywords "free games" and "games free" when ranking the site on either domain.

Of course it does! People say "Free Games" but I've never heard people say "Games Free". That's why you see the big differences in the sales price above.

Thnx for the answers. I wanted to know your opinions on the SEO difference for these domains.

I also believe that with some good SEO you can still rank high for "free games" with gamesfree.net. Like bluesinjid said, I believe google will consider both domains for the keywords. But obviously the gravity for freegames.net will be (much) higher then for gamesfree.net.
