It was the sound of me hitting my head to the desk, over, and over and over.

I just won a auction on SN (for the minimum bid thank god) for a shiny new domain. That I just realized is a friggin typo. I've always been careful to double check before I place a bid. But I was in a hurry & submitted a couple of orders at the same time the other day.

DOH!!!

I hate when I do that!

I am such a great spellur,
That should never happen to me!

I guess it is just the adrenaline of...
as soon as you see it, and say I gotta have it,
the price is right, the emotions of winning take over.

Sorry Bro, at least you're not alone,
I definitely have done that a couple of times too!

I did this too, but I argued for a partial refund and got it.

Why? The font style itself was misleading: I though a vv was w. In some fonts, they look VERY close. Now before I bid on a domain with a "w" in it, I highlight the domain and move it to a word processing page and BLOW it up in Times New Roman.

The auction site has since made its fonts clearer.

I wish I could argue it was anything but my own mistake but that's not gonna happen. Worst part about it was I started looking further at some of the traffic estimations & back links. They were too good to believe, I kept saying that can't be right, there is just no way this would drop, something has to be up. I was looking at the traffic details for the correct spelling & it all started to make sense, checked SN and then proceeded to headdesk..headdesk..headdesk

The two vowels in the middle of the word were switched. DOH!!

At least it looks like a bunch of people tend to incorrectly spell the word as well, hopefully since they can't spell maybe they also tend to click on parked domains. the count begins...364 days until it drops

I did the same thing at Snap a few months back - when I called to ask about it, they canceled it saying "everyone get's one mistake". Very cool.

I registered a verb before when I thought that it was a noun.
Huge difference in value :S

I think anyone who has been involved in domaining for a while has done this.

However whenever checking stats etc why not copy and paste the domain from the sales thread so that you are 100% sure you are checking the correct domains.

Here is my last typo goof....

SecurtiyPro[]com

And I checked the name several times. I even tought it was such a good typo I kept it ...... Wrong! No traffic at all.

It happened to me too, obviously. It was a nice name... with "journal" in it... I felt so lucky to manage to buy it... was already thinking about a enduser. And then... I realized it was spelled "jounal" - no "r". I had not seen such an obvious typo. And - like everybody on this thread - I had checked several times!!

The only pleasant side: it has made a few cents, or even dollars, in clicks on a parking service - not enough for paying for the mistake, but at least something!

Sorry to hear about your experience, I know what you feel!
