I know that 70000 "5 number" .com domains were bought for some strange zip code reason.

Were all the NNNNN.com domains bought?

There's 5 digit numbers available, but no zip codes. I ran a scan against a database of Zip Codes.

What you can do is use wiki to see zip code ranges and find 'gaps' that might be filled in as communities grow. Speculative, but about all there is for .com zip code domains right now. There are quite a few of them appearing in drops though, depending on what you want to pay.
