Did GoDaddy/TDNAM/BuyDomains.com just scam me?

Just wanted to ask..

I purchased a domain via the TDNAM auction site. The domain was over 1400 dollars in total including tax. I never spent such money on a domain before, ok. The domain was my name ;)

The whole process with TDNAM was just really poor, virtually no communication. You are provided with a date when the domain "will become yours". In my case, it was 2 weeks later since purchase date, 4th of January, yesterday.

I thought, hmm ok it takes forever doesn't it? But decided to be patient and waited. The first concern for me was that I was never contacted about the domain, whether they received my payment or not, whether they were going to start transferring the domain to me? Whether anybody has seen my sale even? I mean heck, come on I spent a fair bit of money here.

I contacted the seller who turned out to be buydomains.com at least they do reply to the emails, they seemed ok and appear to have done their part, though slow.

The pending transfer status in Godaddy does show my domain but it's on "Pending approval at current registrar", to which buydomains.com replied they've done their bit.

And today is 5th of January and I still do not have the domain in my account. I find this unacceptable. I was planning on writing my first blog entry on my new domain today, which happens to be my birthday.

I'm seriously doubting now whether TDNAM and buydomains are reliable domain sellers to be doing business with. Do any of you have any experiences? Do you guys have experience buying from these companies?

I purchased one from TDNAM, from an individual seller. Domain name transfer took 6 days after my initiation. As you wrote, for six days it waited under the pending approval at current registrar status, if it already took more than a week you better get in contact with godaddy.

All you had to do is call. Their phone number is on the web site. It used to take long to get someone who can help, but not any more. The reps are young (college age) but they get what domains are and have helped every time. Also, if GoDaddy is acting as a go-between it will take some time depending on the part of the deal being executed (e.g., getting the money from the buyer, getting the seller to transfer the name, etc.). I'm not surprised either that BD takes its time. Even when you buy direct from them, they don't contact you for a few days after a purchase.

BuyDomains are selling on TDNAM? I'd be surprised at that. If you buy from TDNAM, 99% you will get the domain (like most other sales venues)

Yes, they do. When I am running scans on a list of names, I have seen B.D. come up in the Whois as the owner a lot. They are just about always priced high or of the make offer variety.

BD is a buyer and a seller on TDNAM.

Still no sign of this domain and it's been 15 + hours since I submitted a request to Godaddy TDNAM AND buydomains.com

I will never do business with these companies again.

I've never had a problem getting a name I bought on TDNAM, just usually slow.

I bought a couple cheapies before. All under 50 bucks those were on time.

I just don't know what it means by it being late, nor was I contacted to be explained or notified that it was late for whatever reason. I've opened tickets everywhere, nobody is telling me anything.

They take 1400 dollars and cannot be bothered to hand me a decent reply.

Again, have you picked up a phone to address a live person?
Godaddy's ticket queue isn't going to give your name priority because it cost more.

I've had the experience of not receiving a domain name purchased on TDNam. It was due to no fault of TDNam and a refund was given at my request. I seriously doublt that anyone is scamming you - probably just holiday delays.

It takes a while to get a name in your account once you buy from TDNAM. With the holidays and all it takes super long. You could call and they will tell you exactly whats going on.

I should not have to pick up the phone and pay international call charges.

Your case of not receiving the domain... how did that happen? Why did you not receive it? That is strange.

Same too me. I have a pending over 10 days after buys.

Happens all the time, either call or be patient, your choice.

If it's just simply late, will calling speed up the process? I didn't think so.

I'm worried that my money has gone to waste.

The domain appears in my "pending transfers" list in Godaddy account.

It shows as "Pending Current Registrar Approval" and the recommended action is "Accept transfer at current registrar". How the hell am I supposed to accept transfer at current registrar?

tdnam is slow.
Did you use escrow.com to close the deal?

No, I had to use TDNAM's way of payment which is to pay Godaddy.

One other interesting fact.

Two domains that started the transfer AFTER this domain have just finished transfer into my account.

Why the hold up on one particular domain?
