Did anyone register '.website' domains? The general availability started today.

I feel out of all the new gtld's this is very generic!! At least, that's my opinion. :)

It's from Radix Registry the one's who also offer .site .online & the most anticipated .web extension - all yet to be released.

I grabbed 2 domains -
ForexTrading.website
SportsBetting.website

Thought they suited the generic extension well

It does seem like all these extensions will gradually educate the public about the fact domains don't have to end with .com. I would think that in 10-15 years some fraction of the general public will notice.

On the other hand, some smart, educated folks in my real estate investment group still don't know how to leave a comment on a WordPress blog.

A few still find sites by searching because they don't know they can type a URL into one of the boxes in their browser window.

It feels strange when I know their net worth is 500-1,000 times mine and they can tell if a deal is worth doing 30 seconds after a seller starts talking :)

Am I crazy? :-,

Borderline.

People have given you advice over and over about names you reg and you keep going against the grain... Even if you got these for cheap (like free to low $), are you going to renew them until there is an aftermarket for .website (as next year there is likely going to be a renewal fee and don't expect a coupon code)? Are you going to pursue your .website sales or wait for someone to come to you? If you answered yes to either of those scenarios, you're not going to make a sale anyway (at least anytime soon). :xf.wink:

The best advice I can give you is save your $ (let's say $5) per name that you're willing to pay for a new gTLD, multiply that by 200 and divide over a maximum of 4 names. That is the price you should put in as pre-registrations on gTLD's with a category killer keyword/phrases to enhance your odds at future sales. O.o

If i have to choose for example between BoraBoraHotels.com and BoraBora.hotels,i think the only difference is that the second will save me 3 clicks on the keyboard.
Personally, I think BoraBora on the left of the dot and Hotels on the right looks visually better. Plus it give semantic meaning to both the subject and category for the website.

OnlineCasino.website picked up when it came off collision for $14 flipped it for $888. It is currently developed, actually I believe they rebranded the .us to .website.

It's in a particular niche that I'm well acquainted, and can see developing for my own business.

That's the way they are going to get value …. developing, good luck !

Save your money for .press since everyone uses Word.Press and it distinguishes you between a .website and a WordPress site. :lookaround:

Hmmm, I might try to reserve Apple.Press. That should be fun.

It's a long extension, seven characters, SEVEN.
It's too long, and since .web will be released next year i can't see a reason for any .website registering.

Yes, domains like "making.website" or extremely strong keywords like "photo.website" can have some kind of value, but considering they're gonna be released as premium by the registrar and available for unreasonable high amounts, i can't really see a market for this extension.
And this applies for almost all the new generic extensions.

Between all those new gTLDs i think .web is the ONLY one with some kind of sense.
But even in it, i can't see a real market. It just has some sense, and the term "web" is known by everyone and not related to spiders anymore, so it can easily be connected to internet or to a website.
It's short, extremely memorable, strictly related. It has all the characteristics a domain extension should have.

But still invest in .web will be a gambling even if it looks like a good extension.
