I think .coms are all gone. I am investing in dictionary .infos as their reg costs are less. Even in .infos all 4 letter dictionary domains are sold out and are selling in aftermarket for xxx. But many 5 letter dictionary .infos are available. I think they worthy trying. or if your budget is good try and pickup in the aftermarket.

Also i recommend going for .org's
I got Shortly dot org not that long ago very cheap, and I would think its great for an emergency services unit.
So .orgs are a good alternative for lower budgets.

Personally, I haven't seen any good available .com dictionary words available for hand reg. The ones that are left aren't worth the reg fee IMO.

I would suggest at looking at 2 words or other extentions if you want just a dictionary word.

Edit: Started scanning. First words just published. As most people are aware, all good dictionary word .com domains were registered many years ago. Most of these words will be obscure at best and values are likely to be negligible
