discuss Develop .ca where .com is already developed

I have the .ca (of a person's name) and am looking to develop to a personal brochure site. (French Canadian).

BUT - The .com is already taken and has been (badly) developed into an unrelated site for another French Canadian person. (Different industry)

Should we develop or just reg something similar?

This has to be a high quality personal site.

Any thoughts?

How big do you want your target audience to be? Dot-ca domains have a strong foothold in Canada, but you won't get much international spread. That being said, if the name is French-Canadian, you likely don't have a lot of competition.

I'd go ahead and develop.
