I dont know how others felt when they seen this sale price but i was a little suprised it wasnt higher for such a nice name.

Detrot.tv has plenty of future potential, its a good buy for somebody i think.

Over a month ago I contacted the seller directly and we were negotiating and we were at 700-1K after going back and forth and then he got a bid at Afternic from cambkey, a fellow Nper for $1100 and after that he set a BIN on afternic. I did not want to divert my funds at the time since I could have grabbed it for 1K and now would have to pay more, but it is an excellent domain and well worth it. It has no premium annual fee. If Detroit was being sold by Enom as a premium at min it would be 500 per year but most likely 1K per year since it is the Motor capital. The seller negotiated it down to reg fee over the years is what I was told.

Congrats to the buyer:)

Next time, can someone let me know about bids of names of this calibre!!

Is it just me, but this is way lower than I expected. According to this sale .info is valued higher than .Tv, but this name used to cost $500 to register every year and .info cost like $3- that sucks! This was a good buy IMO. If it is actually normal regfee then its an even better buy.

I wonder if Carlton was in on the bidding

Detroit.TV went through some odd changes over the years and this was not a $50 reg. It was a premium reg years ago and has gone through various iterations from being the homebase for a Detroit media company to being the portal for a candidate running for the mayor's office. If someone has a yearly reg of $50 locked up, then consider yourself a lottery winner. I'm a little suspect on the details of Detroit.TV. Something doesn't sound right.

No, missed this at Afternic.

I have been watching this, the register is bulk register,.com and the listing said nothing about reregistration fees. It looks like a non premium registration.

Seriously though, what could this thing be worth?

Aren't there enough detroit.something?

I am just beginning to learn about this. So no flaming my potential ignorance please

Detroit.com is very weak - a template site.

I think there is an interesting story behind this name and it appears that in changing hands over the years ... it wound up becoming the long lost Picasso in the attic behind the dusty cupboard discovered years later by someone who knew its true value. My opinion is colored somewhat by my love of geo properties obviously.

Could someone please explain this? If you register a .tv for $50 for one year, when you go to reregister it at the end of your 1 or 2 year contract, does that mean you are locked in for good at the $50 price as long as you want to reregister it, or does that mean enom can reclassify it as a premium before you reregister it?

If anyone has a link to this on the board Id appreciate it. Thanx!

First off you can register for $19.95 at ENOM.tv or Moniker for $27.49 not $50 Just so long as you own the domain it will not be reclassified if you dropped the domain they could reevaluate and make it a premium but not if you own the domain.

You can reg at $19.95 for as many years as you like so $60 gets you three years at ENOM.tv long enough to develop or look for an offer at a higher price so for domains you know you want you can reg for 3 years if you are not sure then just reg for one year

This is good to know, as that earlier post about Pets.tv freaked me out, but after reading it I see it was different scenario.

So basically once we have a .tv name, we are locked in at the $50 per year price,
(or the discount if we buy multiple years at the start)

Also, we have to make it past the 30 day reg window, after that we have it.

exactly. you got it.

Or you could do Godaddy for $29-$34/year (instead of $19.99 then $50 at enom)

.

Right but enom you can reg 3 years at once which is $59.85 or two years at Godaddy at $58 to $68
