Hi everyone.

Just interested to hear if anyone has had any experience of software you can buy for drop catching. With drop catchers all allowing multiple back orders and then going to auction, it makes sense to buy the software if it works ? The cost is around $200 which is a good investment if it catches a few good domains. Maybe it's worth buying a few different software packages to stand a better chance of catching a good domain ?

Any thoughts please ?

Best,
Paul

Thanks for letting me know about the forum profile. I've now updated this with my Skype contact. I just tested the contact form in Chrome and it works fine. You may want to try clearing your cache/cookies and then try again. From my testing, it's worked on all browsers.

Op once I pay for monthly access do I still pay for catch service per domain

@AYORich if you pay for monthly service (or buy a lifetime license) you will still pay the cost to register a domain. It will cost you the standard registration fee.

So, I bought Desktop Catcher a few years ago and only used it once or twice back then.

I started using it again recently and have noticed a few things that make me wonder if it is working right.

When using the software I watch the log file scroll, showing that it is attempting to register a name.

Here is the issue:

Sometimes the log will show an attempt every second or so, but it also seems to stop for intervals

that can be anywhere from many seconds to even one or two minutes.

It appears that during this time when the log stops scrolling, the software has also stopped attempting

to register a name.

This defeats the purpose of the software.

Am I missing something here, or shouldn't the software be making constant attempts, at least every second

or two, to register a name?

This should show in the log file, right?

Is there a way to fix this?

What's the deal?

@Cdomains DesktopCatcher has a new owner now. You need to contact them through the website's contact page. It took them a while to get back to me though when I had an issue. Have not been using it for quite some time now.

The new owners don't have a presence here at NP?

One of the only reasons I bought the software was because of the great feedback from Andrew. (n)

Andrew still seems to be around. But I guess he would tell you the same as I did.
Here is the email if you want to reach the new owner directly. They did eventually respond to me.

As Andrew explained me once, this is due to registrars API load. They all basically dont give a damn on API catchers (and why should they) and are just giving them crumbs of what is left from their bandwidth.

WUT?? WTF? Where did you get this? I hope it's not true................... :xf.cry::xf.cry::xf.cry:

So the software is useless then.

What a waste of $$.

What good is the software if it does not continuously try to catch a domain.

It should make an attempt every second or so until the domain is registered.

The only domains I have been able to get with this software are ones not in high demand.

It doesn't really matter anyway because Huge/domains usually winds up getting

the best ones anyway.

In years, the software earned me thousands. Sometimes even .com, although you can't count on it. But all kinds of .org, .co, .uk etc etc.

I mostly chase dot coms these days, so the software is less useful to me.

Well i can admit that since Dropcatch rolled out $8 .com, $10 .net, and $15 .org, the software makes sense yet only with .uk, .co., cc etc. As i'm mostly in SEO domains, it still brings great benefit to me.
