Hi everyone.

Just interested to hear if anyone has had any experience of software you can buy for drop catching. With drop catchers all allowing multiple back orders and then going to auction, it makes sense to buy the software if it works ? The cost is around $200 which is a good investment if it catches a few good domains. Maybe it's worth buying a few different software packages to stand a better chance of catching a good domain ?

Any thoughts please ?

Best,
Paul

Any ideas how to figure out in advance if pendingDelete .co will become registry premium or not after deletion? It is needed to not spend time backordering premium domain.
you can go on dynadot backorders here, and search for .co domain that you plan to catch,if it is premium it will show premium price for backorder

Anyone else getting errors from Namesilo in Desktopcatcher?

Namesilo has always worked.

Yes, I have funds in my account

No, I have not changed my IP

Nothing has changed in my account.

The other registrars are still working fine.

Just Namesilo is not working.

I am just wondering if I am the only one having this problem.

I want to know if this problem is with Namesilo or not.

Thanks-

Hi all - I want to give this software a try, but find the website very confusing. Have a few questions - would be great if you could help answer some of them.

1) Is this software working as of May-2020? I see the last couple of posts only pointing issues.

2) Is this a cloud based software of does one have to download and install on local machine? are there any specific requirements of the machine?

3) what is the process like? I believe one has to download the software after paying the monthly subscription on the website? Is that all there is to get started? Or any other steps needed? At what stage does one get a customer account? Is there a customer support system?

4) Once registered, I hope there is an option within the dashboard to cancel the monthly subscription if the software is not making sense for you.

Apologies for the long list. But wanted to check on a few things before diving in with both feet. Thanks in advance.

so bad for this software, i use it for years for all my regfee needed domains, before i used my own php script but DC is more handy and we had great software with the creator.

now the offer is much more different than before, it's seems it's the end...
$70 per month is much more expensive than the price before...

Have you seen these words on your sales page:

https://www.desktopcatcher.com/purchase/lease/

Other competitors with one time payment could be:
http://dropking.com/
Do you know some others ?

I just release one of my self-use dropcatch program to test the market response:xf.rolleyes:.
The price is competitive.:xf.cool:
Portable version and it only access it's own folder and you can put it into USB stick, it never write anything into appdata folder, registry, etc.

Hi,

I bought 'Lifetime License' for Desktopcatcher last year but can't download the exe file. I receive an error message in my account. Support has received several emails from me without replies but the emails were opened (one even 14 times). Can you please assist? Thank you.

EDIT: The emails went to my spam folder. Now everything is sorted.

your software would be competitive with desktop catcher only if you add few more registrars, the same that desktop catcher has and maybe some new,and if you code it so that it can catch all new tlds like xyz and majority of cctlds, for now i dont think that anyone will buy it just to use it with dynadot api,for that desktop catcher still works fine

If I remember right, desktop catcher will forced their new customers use the software under their VPS Server only. I think not everyone is happy with it and they may looking for an alternative.

Dropcatch Monster [Dynadot] is supporting 270+ extensions.
https://domainsoftwares.com/2020/06...s-are-supported-by-dropcatch-monster-dynadot/

Dropcatch Monster [Dynadot] will remain only support Dynadot.
The selling point of Dropcatch Monster is only one time fee, minor updates are always free.

I don't plan to implement license check into it. No one want to be keep track by others or forced to use a specific VPS to access a software while they can't copy the software away.

I may release another version such as Dropcatch Monster [Namesilo], Dropcatch Monster [epik] etc. But I will never integrated them into one piece.

It's because when too many functions are integrated into single app, the software will be very expensive and it won't be survived in the market without license check.

I am Zsolt from DesktopCatcher/AutoBackorder. Although we have commented it many times, it seems we can't stop rumors that our software will stop working and at the same time we will charge everyone for everything... So these statements are not true. We are also not stealing domains, I don't know how it is concluded from a whois record. We don't force past users to move to monthly subscription but all new users are required to pay monthly fee. The reason is simple: it is impossible to develop and maintain a software for one time fee.

What you can expect in the future:

We think there is only one way forward - making DesktopCatcher stronger. So instead of adding random APIs, we are building an exclusive dropcatching API for DesktopCatcher that will be able to compete against some smaller backorder services. It can be expected around this winter. To be able to to that, we need registrar accreditation on our own. We are already registrar for many extensions and we will extend that list.

So this will be a very big step for DesktopCatcher, maybe we will call it DesktopCatcher 2, not decided yet. But we expect that this will be a huge boost for our software and significant increase in catch rate.

The domains where you see such pattern in Whois are backordered via AutoBackorder. There are some extra registrars there, including our own accreditation (most ccTLDs don't require ICANN). Since we call the registry directly, it will always beat the desktop software for these domains.

Will those of us who bought the lifetime license be upgraded to the new software automatically?

Has someone been trying this service.. ? I mean the website version, not the desktop version ?
How do you think are the results in comparison to the desktop version ?

PS : I have a lifetime license but I rarely use it, coz it cant really catch anything even a little competitive.
But it is great instead of regging by hand.

@Zsolt Bikadi Has there been any progress in the cloud version since you were here the last time ?

I have a lifetime license too.

Have been using it for years.

I don't think it matters which version you use.

You will only catch second rate domains because Dropcatch

and the other big guys will beat you every single time.

I run threads from Dyna/dot, Name/silo and more during each session

and it does not make a difference at all.

You will never, ever, ever catch the best names with this software.

I should point out, it is not a failing of the software itself,

but that the big guns have much, much better systems and software

which you can't compete with using Desktop Catcher.

Also, the registrars used in the software limit you a lot,

which really makes it difficult to catch even the second rate

names sometimes. Every time I use it the registrar's API's slow down,

or even freeze the software off and on while you are trying to catch names.

Knowing what I know now, I would probably just stick to

using one of the dropcatching services instead.

Appreciate the input @Cdomains , however I have been aware of its limitations. As I said I only use because it is indeed faster then handregs. May be I did not ask it right but my question was is the cloud-version any better than the desktop one ? ... as the operator claims below.

I think that in your quote Zsolt is talking about autobackorder.com and not about cloud version of desktopcatcher.com,i think that what is he trying to say is that since autobackorder.com is accredited registrar with some cctlds like .bz , .pw , .nl etc,he can send calls directly to registry,he doesnt use APIs for those cctlds so he can beat desktop softwares with autobackorder.com,if you have desktopcatcher software you can also register with autobackorder.com and take a look how it works
