OK, this is more like it.

Demand Media Sucks.

Mainly because they are jacking the price of "premiums" around, but mostly because they talked big and didn't come through, IMHO.

(OK, so just to clarify, the bulldog is now only allowed to bitch in hear about DM right? Does that mean I can finally go back to drinking and being a smart ass everywhere else?)

((I ask because I am pretty sure DM is the only thing I bitch about. If there is something else, please let me know so I can get that out of my system as well))

(((Thanks)))

I was on the phone with them today. I was on vacation and came back to find that my credit card was charged nearly $1000 for a premium domain I did not want to renew.

Within 12 hrs I asked for a refund and their response was "We do not refund on premium domains". I told them that they are violating Consumer Laws. By the way, NOWHERE on my Enom account do they disclaim the price of renewals. The plainly say "Call us". So they basically can renew for any price they desire?

One interesting thing. When i said i will do a chargeback they tried to negotiate with me by asking me to renew another $1000 premium domain for a $100 less. So they can change the yearly renewal fees if they want to. But they don't.

And by the way, 99% of their names would not even sell for the renewal price they are demanding. I know cause I have tested it. The auction price of a domain i bought was about 1/3 of the yearly renewal fee. What does that mean?

Too bad for demand media. They just suck and have a bunch of morons who overprice their .tv domains.

Please tell me who pays xx,xxx dollar renewal fees. These guys have no idea how domaining works with basic demand and supply.

And they call themselves Demand Media. They dont even understand basic economics of business.

Not that I care to register this name but I noticed on Ahead.tv that expired name; 36.tv which was $1,000 a year is now $5,000 a year. Whereas, you can buy 35.tv which has not be registered for $1,000 a year. God I hope Verisign steps in and makes changes because this is "insane"!!! I never got the survey from Verisign or maybe I did and deleted it by mistake but this pricing structure needs to be addressed.

Thanks, Jim

Yes, changes are needed. I think the fact that only 2 members of this forum have reported a positive experience in stoneds premium renewal sticky speaks volumes.

Means they are doing a great job of selling names to speculators at inflated prices.

Snoop as much as I like to disagree with you.......I think you are exactly right. Demand is hoping for quick sales of premiums and I suspect (as I have said many times) that they keep whatever the infalted price is over and above what verisign marks them at. And that assumes that the big Verisign actually marked that particular name up to begin with.

i would love to see the names verisign actually priced as premium, versus what demand has MADE premium instead. Out of the 50+ thousand premium names, I am willing to bet that the list of premiums from verisign is much much smaller.

The fact that verisign is pointing people to dotster instead of enom speaks VOLUMES about what they think of Demand Media.

I strongly suspect that the enom contract renewal is not going to be renewed and verisign is looking at dotster, or at the very least will open it up for negotiations.

No. I think people are paying the inflated prices on their own. There is nothing great about the job these guys are doing when it comes to selling dot TV.

I'm not sure what you'd base this on, little doubt verisign calls most of the pricing shots and verisign has done much the same thing with the premiums for years.

Ah, back to normal......

I disagree with you there.

I STRONGLY believe verisign had a list of names that were premium when the contract with Demand was put in place. What demand did with it after that is not controlled by verisign as long as the original premium prices are paid to them.

That is my belief.

Is this belief based on anything? Not that the issue matters at all anyway.

Bulldog you are 100 Correct, Demand Media has made more names premium and has marked up names higher than Verisign has. Now again keep the thread on point, it is a critique of DEMAND MEDIA that's why the thread was started.

And Greg I do not think that is the reason why only 2 posted many have had no problem with their premium renewal, over the last few weeks many here have pmmed me letting me know they would no longer be posting here as they have found it a waste of time.

You don't think "what" is the reason? :-/

Homo.tv - Premium Name Renewal $50,000???

I Try to find good premium domain with ahead.tv, untill i seach homo.tv and show price renewal $50,000. I don't think this domain worth too much and try to appraisal with estibot and show $1,800. Anybody know how enom establish their price premium names? Do you think premium names will be better for .tv prospect?
