Is it possible to just delete a domain name, rather than renew it? I know you can let them expire, but can you also delete them?

A few years back, I remember regging a couple of names that I had misspelled, and in a panic, I immediately deleted them from my account at GoDaddy. I can't remember the process, but I'm certain I did this.

I have deleted a couple in godaddy. Just go to domain names, manage domains, cancel domains. They won't credit you for any time left and the ones I have cancelled seem to be parked on a similiar type parked page with similiar type ads relating to the domain name. So I would just leave em parked at sedo or afternic or wherever and make a few cents on clicks until they expire.

Thanks all.. just more or less asking out of curiosity... I have a few domains I probably won't renew or develop... just looking at the options.

Not really gone.

I spoke with godaddy about canceling some domains in my account. The rep said to cancel it in my control panel. He also said that the domain is not really cancelled, it just won't show. As such, according to him, you can get the cancelled domain back by calling them anytime prior to the domain's actual expiration date.

I initially inquired about this issue because I feared mistakenly canceling one of my many domains in my godaddy account.

What I was looking for, was an easy way to avoid auto-renewing at a registrar where auto-renew is the default (1and1)...

Thanks all for your replies...
