I dont know much about hurricanes, but isnt there some form of defence that could be used against them?

Not really...a temporarily vacation to Europe is your best defensive strategy, other then that your delivered to the mercy of mother nature.

I'm down in southern florida, thankfully we are out of the way. As for the hurricane protection question, you can put up shutters, but Damion is right, a vacation is the best defense.

I'm about 45 minutes south of Lady Lake. I left for Cancun, Mexico so I wasn't there but have heard that my house is fine. Anyone heard from BlazeDomains? He lives just a couple minutes from me.

i m in west palm beach.... it was north of us ... we didn't felt anything but people in orlando i feel sorry for them.
