Here it is,

An exclusive peek at extension: .DE domain drops scheduled to drop around October 2009.

I noticed many short & premiums in the list. It will be interesting to observe the drop cycle, who gets what & the interested crowds.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe .DE is a major TLD which competes heavily with .com in the volume of registrations.

Great initiative, is this data obtained from Pool?

I am not convinced that you can determine .DE drops this much in advance; granted I took my DENIC training many many years ago though. Some of the names on the list are active (status = connect) domain names owned by companies and I doubt those will actually be deleted. Monitoring dropping names for most ccTLDs is quite a science by itself, especially since barely any of the registries publishes a drop list or even a list of domains at all.

Also in .DE you will find that many dropped domain names are re-registered at least for a period of 30 days again, often without DNS.

There are a number of experienced players in the popular .DE space, so it may be hard to compete with them.

Two questions from the Pool FAQ:

- When do .DE domains delete?

Answer: The actual delete date and time is very unpredictable. Our .DE backorder list provides our best estimate of when a domain will have entered the "in transit" status.

- Do all "in transit" domains delete?

Answer: No. Denic (the registry for the .DE ccTLD) makes every effort to contact the registrant of a domain in transit to make absolutely sure they do not want to renew. Only after making these attempts will an "in transit" domain delete.

Actually .de works different than .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz ......

They are also some .de Snapservice specialists like Zonespy .de who have own scripts for deleted .de Domains. They are understandable rumors that they snap all good names and leave only the crap for people to reg. However Zonespy says that they never do such things and they even swear that they don't do it. Who knows? .... Well, sometimes you can find OK Names there (or through other services) but generally the best Names are snapped by .de professionals who have own scripts.

Not sure if they do it, but there are some registrars that re-register all deleted, .DE names. Since the ones I know about do this without adding nameservers to the names, they now have 30 days to add valid nameservers, otherwise DENIC (the registry) will delete the domains again (and they are not invoiced for the names).

Similar to many other ccTLDs tracking expiry and deletion of names is quite tricky, since there's no public list or zonefiles of registered names available.
