Dan.com terrible experience SEP 2024

bought a domain with dan.com, they sent auth codes that did work, spoke to TA, they mentioned compliance reviewing transaction. over 24hours no reply. Then they sent another auth code to my dan dasboard which didnt work. they proceeded to lock the domain and told me to wait. Wait for what exactly? when my bank card has been debited?. the client is now in serious pain because i finished web designs only, just to upload files and get work done. Hopefully seller wont sell to someone else or dan wont steal the domain name as it shows they are in custody of it. NEVER AGAIN WITH DAN ! this is a warning if you are attempting to buy from them. spoke to my bank and giving dan 3days to refund or they get a CHARGE-BACK !

@DAN.COM why not tell the public why you cannot release a domain fully paid for? and why you are deleting emails on my dashboard... i blame the seller because i really wanted to send him the money via bank transfer but he just sent a dan link for payment.

the domain can be icaan locked. If that's the case you cannot transfer it, but the buyer can update dns for you before the transfer.

according to the seller, the domain moved away from hes account and he has received payment for it.the transfer was auto transfer he said. he also mentioned he has no control over the domain again which is true when the whois records clearly shows its in custody of dan

it's dan's registrar, so they can push the domain to your account, normally it's done quickly.

I had a similar experience with dan.com checkout link generated from afternic. The domain disappeared from my account but it took a week of back-and-forth between me, afternic, dan and the buyer to finalize the transfer. Good luck!

exactly what i was saying.. dont know what else dan needs. they gave the first auth code, never worked, second auth code failed as well and then the stories are not just adding up. Wish i could put out the domain name, but i don't want the client to loose it by people paying better offers to the seller if this get reversed... whats your advice? i am here thinking of raising a chargeback if they dont release it or refund as soon as possible

i got in touch with the seller, he mentioned he has payment already and the domain left hes godaddy afternic account. what the company @DAN.COM

so, if they transfered the domain yesterday, you cannot transfer it elsewhere for 59 days.
But you can control it using your metaregistrar account, dan have to push the domain to your account.

incorrect. this is a direct domain purchase from a source and price was negotiated. it was listed with afternic and he sent a link of dan for us to make payment. we should have it within an hour max.

Well, be sure that it's IMPOSSIBLE to transfer elsewhere now for 59 days due to icaan limitation.

Based on my experience, the domain will not be locked for 60 days. When you purchase a domain through Dan, it can be transferred twice in the same day: first from the seller's registrar to Dan's holding registrar, Metaregistrar BV, and then to the buyer's preferred registrar

For .com it's locked, maybe not for other extensions.

well the good news is.. dan doesnt steal... cash or domains.. that just ain't the biz they are in.

bad news is u wont be finalizing deal within 24h like 99.9% of their clients.

never heard about that, as it's an icaan requirement.

Domain is always locked for 60 days if it's transferred to another registrar but you can still move it within the receiving registrar to another account is this what's up? Regardless any initial transfer or push finalizes the transaction once verified.

Maybe more at play here there always is
